Do we all agree that Alicia Silverstone's approach to parenting is crazy?

Ugh you'd be surprised. I loved our pediatrician until I brought DS in with a cough/runny nose and he wanted to prescribe antibiotics without any further testing.

If what he had was no big deal why did you feel the need to drag him to the pediatrician?

Lots of peds prescribe antibiotics for viruses - the parents want to leave with medication so they give it. In another thread right now a poster said her 1 yr old had a fever for 3 days so they went to the ped - he gave them a script for antibiotics and told her she could use it if she wanted to. More than likely that baby has a virus.

And in the other thread with the kid that threw up, right away a poster said - take the baby to the doctor. Why? What would they do. Again I am sure that parent wants a script - what else would you need a doctor for with no symptoms except vomiting a couple times.

Blossom is anti-vax

Blossom is a tool.

My parents were health nuts and also anti vax. We are super healthy and were (and still are) rarely sick. However, by the age of 11, I'd had whooping cough, measles, mumps, and chicken pox.

Anti vax and health nut don't really go together.

And lived to tell the tale! So what was your experience being sick with these illnesses, if you remember?

Thirty years prior she could had added polio to that list. Would you be asking the same chipper question?

There is an article in this week's People magazine.

It only says she doesn't let "Bear" her son watch television or play with plastic toys.

No plastic toys??!!

That would be difficult to do for me since 95% of my child's toys are made of plastic.
