No vaccinations at all...no meds (wet socks to bring down a fever)...a plant-based diet will keep her kid from ever getting sick...crazy, right? So who is going to buy her book? |
| As if! |
| Blossom is crazier. |
| Honestly, I think Alicia is ten times crazier than Blossom (assuming she's just guns ho about breastfeeding...no clue where Blossom stands on vax). |
|
Don't be so judgmental - she is doing what is best for her family.
As you know as long as you use that phrase - no matter what you are actually doing then you are supposed to be off limits for criticism or judgment. |
| Clueless |
Right! It's ridiculous. No, she's not doing what's best for her family. She's putting her family at great risk because she's a whackadoo. And by talking about it, she's encouraging others to put their family at great risk. If everybody were always doing what's best for their family, then far fewer horrible things would happen. |
| Yawn....antivax is so over..........are we really debating this still....... |
|
her 2 yr old is happy and healthy so it seems to be working.
I don't share her entire philosophy but I do agree that kids don't need to be at the doctors and getting antibiotics and other medication for every sniffle, cough or fever. There are many ways to manage those types of illnesses without prescription drugs. |
|
I don't agree. She has healthy kids - maybe because of genetics, good luck, good nutrition and other tangible and intangible reasons.
If she believes that her methods keeps her kids healthy more power to her. If people don't believe in her methods then they don't have to buy her books. People also don't believe in Ayurveda, Acupuncture, Chinese medicine, homeopathy. And yet time and again people use these remedies because conventional medicine fails them. |
Speaking of Clueless... |
|
| No duh, 21:48. Docs don't prescribe antibiotics for colds or sniffles. And that has nothing to do with opting out of vaccinations. Didn't some kid recently die from chickenpox? Could've sworn I saw a headline about it today. |
|
Well I highly doubt she'd admit to her kids being sick since she's trying to sell a book on her lifestyle. So maybe her kid has never been hospitalized sick, but I bet he's had a cold or something. Although who knows, maybe she doesn't let him around other kids all that much. Anyways, just saying I take the whole "he's never been sick" thing with a grain of salt.
However, I do agree that there are other remedies that medication for certain ailments. And I don't agree with rushing to the doctor every time your kid has a cough. I think using something like Eucalyptus oil is much more preferred over medication or slathering your kid with Vicks vapor rub. Sometimes homeopathic remedies are good, you just have to know when to admit you may need western meds. And yes, my kids were fully vaccinated on time and all of that. |
Ugh you'd be surprised. I loved our pediatrician until I brought DS in with a cough/runny nose and he wanted to prescribe antibiotics without any further testing. |
