I spend 40-80 minutes a day in my car. Would my life be better sitting in a Mercedes

I love my mercedes. Can't go back to a car without heated front seats, bluetooth, rear view camera, automatic wipers, etc. Yes, the back seat has no leg room. So consider that. But I drive 1 hour each way (and I am in a close in suburb just 9 miles away) but I have to drop off DS first and then 45 minutes to Capitol Hill with traffic. A nice car makes it much more comfortable. I can afford it though. If you are debating between a $15k car and a $40k car, consider a VW with nice options.

My Honda minivan has all of these plus plenty of leg room in the second row....and the third...

Honda seats are hard and uncomfortable.

I was in Brussels for work several years ago and squeezed into the back of a Mercedes taxi between my supervisor and his boss. It was the most comfortable I've ever been in a car.

Not possible. 10 years with no repairs. Still the same tires, brakes, wipers, etc. I don't think so unless you drive 500 miles a year.

Geez, really, replacing the wipers is a "repair?" tires?

Modern new cars do not need repairs. I have not turned mine in for a "repair" in 20 years. Replacing brake pads, wipers, tires -- that is just routine maintenance. Never heard of Jiffy lube, people?

I'm actually leaning towards getting a new Suburban. Talk about comfortable and owning the road. Not sporty, obviously, but roomy, powerful and comfortable.

I spend 40 to 60 minutes a weekday in my car, and my Honda Pilot is perfectly comfortable. I'm almost 50.

No.

Nope, I'd buy a nicely-loaded Acura sedan. Mine is comfortable, looks nice and gets good gas mileage. Service is cheaper than Mercedes.

You must not own a Mercedes. My "modern new" Mercedes needs expensive repairs- not maintenance- quite frequently. And Mercedes doesn't sell the parts, even things like wipers, to Jiffy Lube so you have to go to an authorized Mercedes repair shop.

I disagree. Honda seats are durable. I keep cars 12-15 years.

I didn't get a mercedes but I upgraded from a camry to a subaru outback - limited edition with heated seats, moon roof, 10way control driver's seat, back up cam, sirius xm radio, bluetooth system, etc - and it has impacted me greatly.

The car upgrade made what had been a miserable commute enjoyable.

Upgrade. You'll kick yourself for not doing it sooner. Perhaps rent the car first and test the commute to see the difference it makes.

You only spend 40-80 mins./day in your car?

What you're missing here is the Mercedes service from the dealership. It's OUTSTANDING! Every time I take my car in, I get a Mercedes loaner, and my car comes back washed and vacuumed. The people who work there are seriously trained to be at your service. That is the real reason I'll never go back to any other car.

Yes, but they better be because you're there all of the time. The only thing better than the Mercedes service is not having to drag your ass and your car to the dealership every other month! I got quite sick of Euromotor Cars before I finally decided to trade in my always-in-the-shop Mercedes for a car that didn't need so much maintenance and repairs. All my friends with Mercedes complain about how many issues they have with their cars.
