I spend 40-80 minutes a day in my car. Would my life be better sitting in a Mercedes

I agree with this very much. You don't have to buy a Mercedes to get a very comfortable ride. Check out the Toyota Avalon.

Toyota Avalon costs the same as a Mercedes C class.

The items you list are normal wear and tear and generally cost the same in most cars. Repairs are different - electrical problems, engine trouble, rusting or corrosion.

I can assure they don't cost the same in most cars, compare brakes in a Honda to a Mercedes, BMW, OR Audi. Most modern day cars don't have repairs as you define it so it comes down to routine maintenance costs.

Erm, both Honda and Toyota make their cars in America. I don't care what nationality the CEO of the car company is, but I"m happy knowing that the people who assembled my Honda live in Ohio.

If you spend that much time in your car then you should definitely drive a car you love. That being said, my last car was a Mercedes and I loved it for about two years. After that I began resenting the time (not to mention the money) I spent taking it to the dealership for maintenance and repairs. BMWs are just as bad.
