vs a Mazda?
Obviously it would cost me a lot in extra ownership costs, but would it be worth it? |
| i would use the monthly payment to move closer in |

Not if anyone will have to sit in the back seat. DH has a Mercedes and this weekend I got in and out of the back three times. The bruise on my left hip is beautiful, and the bump on my head is almost gone.
I am a petite woman - about the size of the average 13 yr old boy. |
| Save your money and buy aidio books instead. |
I don't commute into the city, and I find I change jobs much faster than I change houses. I'd rather pick a centrally located house. |

Depends on current car. Entry level luxury is a more comfortable ride than a civic. The high end Ford's are nicer than a 3 series in my opinion, but there is little to no difference in a 40k car and 80k car.
You can easily buy a 3 year old 60k car for 20k and low miles still under warranty. |
| I love my mercedes. Can't go back to a car without heated front seats, bluetooth, rear view camera, automatic wipers, etc. Yes, the back seat has no leg room. So consider that. But I drive 1 hour each way (and I am in a close in suburb just 9 miles away) but I have to drop off DS first and then 45 minutes to Capitol Hill with traffic. A nice car makes it much more comfortable. I can afford it though. If you are debating between a $15k car and a $40k car, consider a VW with nice options. |
| I bought a 1 year old mini for this reason (hour commute each way) and it's made my life immeasurably better - comfortable seat, good sound system, and great gas mileage. But, then again, it was 19k - could never have justified new-Mercedes kind of dollars. |
You can get all of these things on a car that costs WAY less than a Mercedes and with none of the maintenance costs. Largely, you're paying for the fancy hood ornament. |
| I love my Acura mdx--great car |
This was our experience as well. Two carseats made for a miserable backseat ride for a 3rd adult. We got rid of it and are doing the minivan thing now, and I'm really happy with the space gained. Our seats can still heat, too. |
| The experience would be better in a nice car, sure. I prefer Lexus as more comfy than Mercedes. YMMV. |
| I also live in my car. Ultra luxury SUV. My life is not better... |
| I used to have a 90-120 minute commute each way when I lived in LA. I bought a BMW to ease the pain. It did help and I still have the car today. Love it! |
| When I moved from a honda civic to an audi a3, I became much happier. love that car! |
