Kiss and Ride on rainy days

this seems the most reasonable solution.

And no, I'm not a hypocrite - I walk my child to school daily.

OP, please sell your car/s already. You and your family are not going to die using public transportation.

I would LOVE to live a car free lifestyle. It unfortunately isn't all that practical where I live and the places I need to get to, but I do use public transportation when I can. And my car doesn't leave the garage many days - I have a 12 year old car with less than 80K on it.

Our other car is a hybrid.

damn pedestrians. Get in your car and drive right down the street like a real 'merikan.

Or:
Umbrella
Raincoat
Rain boots

BOOM!

There seems to be some sort of problem with bringing the umbrella on to a school bus. Not allowed? Or it needs to fit all the way into the backpack? Is it required to put a wet, dripping umbrella into a backpack with all the school papers? Hard to get the real story from my kid.

OP, why don't you move to DC so you don't have to deal with all of us Virginians and our darn cars?

FFS, really? Maybe that explains some of the rainy day insanity. It's dumb, but I wouldn't doubt it.

isn't that what OP was suggesting?

Where do the dripping wet raincoats, umbrellas, and rainboots for a class of 30+kids get stored all day?

OP, didn't you scout the neighborhood before your home purchase?

Notice the nearby large school?

Check it out on a rainy day?

Look at the school dropoff traffic flow?

This is not everyone else's fault/issue as you seem to believe.

HInt from first grade teacher: umbrellas and first graders are not a good combination. A good raincoat with hood and boots is much better. Teacher will figure out where to put the stuff.

I thought teachers didn't like the kids to wear rain boots because they aren't good for PE, and the kids have PE at least 3 days a week.

They need to bring other shoes to change into? That's what we do with snow boots.

Lazy mom.

Not PP, but you're a moron. That's what buses are for and by not driving she's keeping another car from clogging up the streets. We live near the school my kids attend and i'll tell you the parents who insist on driving when their kids could and should take the bus are the worst. They run through stop signs, block the street so residents can't get by. As this area grows it's going to get worse and worse. At some point we are all going to have so sacrifice a little convenience for the common good (and common sense). I hope it happens sooner rather than later.
