Yes.

It is a great, efficient system.

Definitely, ours does. Takes much longer b/c they have to fetch your specific kid, rather than your kid just hopping out at their turn in the a.m.

I can drive to school in about 5 minutes. The bus takes 30. I make my kids ride the bus to and from school and have since they were in Kindergarten. It's where they make friends, transition into and out of their school day and generally be kids. It's good for them.

Really? Are you in FCPS? That sounds like a mad free for all at the end of the day. How do you pick up?

Our bus is where kids learn the F word, yell, bully, etc.

They make friends at school, recess, neighborhood and sports teams.

not the PP but we do, it's pretty orderly and efficient. Just get in line, there is a person with a radio who works a few cars ahead of the pick up and calls for your kid. No worries.

APS. Park and walk up to school (with screaming baby who just woke up from her nap). Good times!

So glad we were priced out of Arlington! That stinks.

And yes, as a walker, it DOES affect me. The traffic situation in our neighborhood and near our school is truly bad enough. Our school is too large as it is (we have over 1000 students). Adding all the extra people to the roads who just can't be bothered to put their kids on a bus in the rain creates a seriously dangerous situation for everyone.

Not to mention, the busses wind up sitting in the traffic because of the design of the roads - there truly is only one way in and one way out of our school.

By being selfish, you really are messing up everyone's day. Although, I do get a little bit of a kick out of walking past all of you that I passed on my way to the school STILL sitting in traffic on my way back.

You know, chocolate really does help with severe PMS and mood swings.

+1 geez Louise, lady. Take a walk, take some deep breaths, and stop wasting your time getting upset over this kind of stuff.

Who wants their kid to sit all morning in soggy, wet clothing?
I don't coddle my kids - we walked to school during the polar vortex, we walk on the coldest days but if there is a steady rain, we drive.
My kids don't like to arrive cold and wet.

And no, I'm not a hypocrite - I walk my child to school daily.

OP, please sell your car/s already. You and your family are not going to die using public transportation.

STOP WALKING your kids to school in the rain!!! It causes a safety hazard to us parents who like to carpool our kids. *rolls eyes*

Some parents in our neighborhood will drive their kids to the bus stop to sit in the car until the bus is in sight. That could be a good compromise between toughing it out in all elements and converging upon the school.
