Quiet is a benefit of living in the burbs. Putting up with noise is what you have to do in an urban environment. |
| People don't mean to bother you. They are just trying to get by. |
Except for lawnmowers and leafblowers, of course. (And snowblowers, when it snows.) |
This. |
| Nothing is rude if it's done for safety. Some people worry. Maybe their child has a fever; they want to be able to drive if they have to. Maybe they will nee to go somewhere in an emergency. |
| See previous thread on shoveling sidewalks- more effective to shovel early. Get some earplugs to have on hand for the next time. |
Seems like the quiet you are looking for is more "country" than suburbs. Good grief. You peeps would never survive in areas with more frequent snow. My dad and most of our neighbors (great lakes town) would be up clearing their driveways at 5am on a regular basis in order to get to work on time. With noisy snowblowers! Fact of life. No two hour delays up there. |
| If you want total quiet, move to the country and live by yourself on 50 acres. Otherwise, you should expect some notice. Too bad OP. |
Noise, not notice |

I felt bad that I went out at 9:30 to do mine! I had already shoveled once that day, but it didn't occur to me to do it again until someone posted on facebook that they were going out to do it now, before it all froze. plus I didn't want to go out there before my kid was in bed, since we were enjoying pre-bed snuggle time.
be glad we don't get snow often, OP! |
| Did you complain to the plow companies plowing your roads at night? What about the sound of the wind. |
