I had neighbors on my block - at 3 different homes - shoveling snow between 12am and 1.30am last night (actually, loudly scraping ice from what I could hear). In what world is that considered an appropriate thing to do? I can't believe they were all due to leave on holiday before 6am this morning! So why on earth make a racket at that time of night? Do some people just HAVE to shovel as soon as the snow stops, no matter what hour? Or did the 11pm news guy tell them to get out there?
Thanks for letting me rant. |
| Maybe they wanted to get it off the ground before it froze overnight. |
| Did you consider that maybe they work different hours from you, and that might be their available time? |
+1. Good lord OP. Get some earplugs and go to sleep, or go move to the country where you won't have any neighbors nearby. |

The sooner you shovel snow, the easier it is to remove it.
Were they individual neighbors, or a company they hired? A lot of companies hired to do this kind of stuff, do it overnight when there is less traffic (people, cars, other) to interrupt the removal. |
| It's rude. I felt bad scraping at my car at 10PM. My neighbor leaves for work at 5AM. |

| Officially most eye-rollingly silly complaint of the day. |
| I wholeheartedly agree, OP. |
| Part of winter weather. You just have to deal. |

OP here. They were three different individual neighbors. And it went on consecutively. I swear they must have organized themselves just to annoy me!
Yes, I get that we all want to shovel our snow as soon as possible after it stops and before it freezes, since it will be a lot easier. But it stopped snowing at 11pm. There's no way I would go out there at that time and make that kind of noise. I, like every other decent person, realized the job would be harder the next morning, but that's just what you have to live with to be a good neighbor. And no, they are not shift workers. |
| Snow blower and did your driveway as well |

You are funny OP.
Find some real problems to get upset about. And get earplugs. |
| Did you also get mad at VDOT for plowing your road? |
|
It is pretty rude, OP.
My neighbor's son (middle school) was out at 9pm shoveling his sidewalk. I thought that was fine, and I've always admired him for doing all the work he does (cutting branches, raking leaves, you name it!). He's a great kid. But midnight is just rude. |
