Do you ever wear your fur coat?

"My mom has "loaned" her full-length mink to me while she lives in Florida. I will be wearing it tomorrow. I'm 47 and have been wearing it for 10 years, mostly to work or running errands. It's warm, gorgeous and I love it. "

+1

Fur is definitely "in" ladies. It's been "in" for about 2 years now.

"NP here -- I have two faux fur coats; one long and one short. I wear the short one daily to work and when I am out and about shopping I consistently get compliments that I look "warm" -- no one has disparaged me for wearing "fur". I sometimes counter the compliment by letting the person know my coat is not "real" but otherwise... I love my coats and will not stop wearing them."

Is the "look 'warm'" compliment really a diss?

Yes! I'm 26 and I love wearing mine! Though I admit I get WAY more dirty looks when I wear it here instead of in other cities. Way more Obamatards here.

Fur is so fashionable! I guess it just has not hit DC yet.

What the F*&^ is wrong with the majority of people on this thread? Wearing fur is a LOT different than just eating meat…. most shoes, purses, etc, come from cows that are being slaughtered for meat. Fur coats come from an industry that has no other purpose but to raise animals to be cruelly treated and inhumanely killed. It is beyond me how people can put on even an inherited coat and be ok with it. You are sending a message to the world that you think this inhumane industry is ok. Its not! Stop kidding yourself. I encourage anyone who is going to buy a fur coat to actually be willing to watch a video that shows what these creatures have to go through in order for you to feel fashionable. If you can still sleep at night and wear one than you have a lot more to worry about than simply what fashion choices you need to make. If you are living in a freezing part of the world and only have access to animal fur to keep warm and survive, I get it. But please… anyone who lives here can make much better choices. I honestly wish people would educate themselves and recognize that each of us has the opportunity to make compassionate choices without denying ourselves things that we need in life.

I actually have four - one inherited, one from mom in Florida and two from husband. Only one is long. I wear them when it is cold and mostly for formal events. Not school, but church or out to dinner definitely.

Sigh...I had several...donated all of them to the Humane Society. They use them to cover the inside of orphaned baby animals' dens. I teach my kids kindness to all, could not wear a fur.

If you wear fur it's for two reasons; social climber who wants to impress, or Evil spirit.
Which one are you???

I don't have a moral objection to fur but definitely get a sheared mink and not a long haired mink. Long haired mink is soooo dated and old-lady to me. I know someone with a very trimly cut sheared mink and it's gorgeous.

Weird. Who would drape a dead animal over their shoulders!
