Don't take his car! Mine called the cops on me, and the cops spoke to me and said they are checking the title and might come to get me.
Few minutes later, as they read that my name was on the title, my now ex called and said:"please bring the car back".

He is blackmailing you.

The police wouldn't write this up as a typical "auto theft" felony case because you are his spouse which will show them that you are not just some thug off the street who hotwired his vehicle, plus you are on the insurance.

I say have his ass call the cops. They will just tell him to stop wasting valuable resources and time.
