When talking about where a school's playground is in proximity to the school, it makes ALL the difference in the world to *actually* be across the street vs. being blocks away. It is IMmature/clueless to act like that's a trivial difference..."across the street" means across the street. "A few blocks away" means a few blocks away. It is misleading to call one the other when proximity really matters.

Geez, Louise. Get some Lithium already! We live in a city - it's five minutes away for an adult, 15 for a kid - get a grip.

Well then, say that it's a fifteen minute walk NOT across the street. Geez Louise, what's wrong with saying what it actually is...

Well, Louise...for me IT'S ACROSS THE FREAKING STREET. SMH. I walk from the back or front of the building two blocks...CROSS THE STREET...and I am at the recreation center! We live downtown where the are no parks/recreation center...and love that Sela has one in close proximity -accessible in minutes - BY GOING ACROSS KANSAS - which appears to be STREET near Sela.

New poster here but have to chime in. Such a silly argument but its across A street, yes, but you have to walk 2-3 blocks to get to the street to cross. Hope that clears it up for everyone. Lol

But does it freaking matter. The kids have somewhere to go play within walking distance. End of story. I grew up down the street from where I live now.....what's considered down the street? 5 blocks 10 blocks.........

I see. Now you are using "down the street" instead of "across the street" and hoping no one notices. Truth, for you, must be something down the street...

NP here. Hoping for the best for Sela. At another charter. Agree the whole "across the street" argument is petty, but the pettiness is coming from the pp who lied. Don't cheapen the arguments to entice people to Sela by lying about its amenities. It's unnecessary and makes Sela boosters sound desperate. The rec center is very near the school- a decent walkable distance. It's not across the street, but close enough. Period. I'm a lot happier now and not inclined to be turned off by the school. Really a simple fix.

Down the street, not across the street. Got it.

New person, but this is some petty nonsense, y'all should should yourselves and why you need to smack a new school around so much. Obviously, you have a lot of time on your hands, but you're really doing too much. I looked up the address on google maps - and I can see why the poster thinks it's across the street and why others think it's down the street. Both are equally valid descriptions. I myself would use "close" "near by" "around the corner." My choice of adjective, particularly since my kids are not at Sela, doesn't make me liar - it makes me a human being who is not you - not your robot - an independent person stating my perspective.

Not a new poster. Just an old sock puppet. Your choice of adjective does not make you a liar. Claiming your kids are not at Sela does.

Agreed.

as anyone who ever tried to work with large groups of children can attest, distance matters when you have to line them up and get them from point a to point b, safely. It takes time! Better vote for that playground. or give them activities to do on the blacktop or yard at the school
