Stokes- the last hurrah

what does "shut out the WL" mean??? If you're on the WL, it's much better for the slots to be filled with lottery-winners rather than siblings - there is much less movement on a siblings-only accepted list.

Anyone heard yet about Stokes lottery details?

Nope. Although I was told they would be sending emails out today to all parents who applied letting them know if a lottery would be held.

Just got an email. All spots went to siblings.

There's no PK3/PK4 lottery.

Has anyone heard if any other grades will hold a lottery?

That was expected, the waiting list is the important thing.

When will the wait list come out? Will it be posted and updated over time on the website?

Posted online by COB on April 12th. Don't know about the updating.

I guess I'm missing something cause I'm not in the know...if every spot in PS/PK is taken up by siblings of current students why even be anxious about the waitlist? The chances of a current family from disenrolling is pretty low, right? Maybe statistically you can assume one or two families will move from DC, but other than that why even think of Stokes as a possible solution? Is Stokes hinting that it might add a class or something? Or is this just unrealistic hope that is keeping people in a tizzy about the waitlist?

They always make a waitlist just in case families don't return, which occurs sometimes. I would think the chances are fairly low of a mass exodus sufficient to accommodate high waitlist numbers. I was once told top ten spots have a chance.

I know last year they moved at least 7 spots into the waitlist, and has the same no-lottery situation.
