You just make it work! We plan things ahead of time and leave room to mess up. We also work together to make it work. We do a lot of running around too, I definitely know how you feel about that lol but we just get it done.

Did you graduate from high school?

Yes I did.

I don't believe she hate us but I know she does want to go away for college

Oh, and the oldest is a girl too. That makes it even worse. Don't be surprised if she chooses not to have kids.

every 17 year old hates their parents and can't wait to get away!

Yes, but this is a white hot rage, and it applies to her siblings too. No more diaper slinging... no more "mommy's little helper." To hell with all that.

Lol! Wow you seem to really know my family. My daughter RARELY changes a diaper. The only time she does is when she is getting paid to babysit. I don't ask my kids to do the hard work.

No more mother who can't spell or use correct grammar!

So who does the "hard work" ? You?

He makes about 300k a year. Give or take depending on how his business did that year.

Not OP - thank God

But my people no longer have huge families. 2 - 3 max

How many boys/girls? Catholic? Mormon? Who did your household vote for?

2 boys, 6 girls. Baptist. We voted for Romney.

So you are an anti-feminist, as you play a submissive role to your husband?

I pity your daughters.

I'm not the OP, but was the child in a large family. It was a great experience and to this day, I feel like I know more about sharing, teamwork, and looking for the common good than my peers. I didn't have a lot of kids because that was just my choice, but why would I judge someone who chose differently?

OP, my question is: do you have some kind of system to have one-on-one time with each child? My parents found that the biggest challenge.

I'm just wondering why any woman would choose to undergo multiple pregnancies. Knowing what it does to one's body, it seems like an unnecessary hardship. I mean, I can understand huge families in the past, what with infant mortality, but I don't get it in this day and age.

Don't forget farming families and "city folks" who sent their kids off to work in factories.

I don't get it either, to be honest. Who wants to be a slave to a house filled with diapers and chaos?

I only have 4 but I think I can answer this question. There are diapers and chaos, but also a lot of love.

There's a lot of love in my household of 4 - and a lot more time (even with 2 working parents) to show it.

Yes, but her husband makes more than twice what my husband makes--wow!

You know, I've thought about having a "I'm C9BL, ask me anything!" thread, but I was always too afraid I would be permanently emotionally scarred from the experience. I think I'll stay relatively low-key

I do have a question for you, OP! We have nine children (so far) because we are open to life, but you mentioned you use birth control and actively chose this particular number. How do you reconcile that with your Baptist faith? I know some Baptists are open to life, some not--a dear friend from law school days was the youngest of 14, and her dad was a Baptist pastor. What is your theology?

Thanks! Life is beautiful

Wow. I can't believe the nasty responses on this thread. As someone else stated, speaks to those miserable posters as opposed to the OP. Really, folks, why are you purposefully slamming this woman? Are you insecure with your own life choices? I know the grammar police have their fun on DCUM, but the posts here are going way beyond that.

OP, ignore the haters. I applaud you for not sinking to their level.

My question- what's your typical grocery bill? (weekly or monthly?)

Why does someone keep attacking OP? Are you one of those bitter infertile women? Did you spend $50k on treatments and then end up adopting? Did you make a wrong turn trying to find the TTC forum?

You are just envious. Your life is miserable, and you hate that someone else is happy with their choices. You might have kids without TTC woes, but something is making you a miserable witch. Seek help because it's probably adding wrinkles to your face, and we don't know how ugly you are. There is no need to make it worse.

My husband and I. Our youngest is almost 3 now so the hard work of changing diapers, feedings, and such are disappearing.

OP I don't have any questions. But I think its great that you have a large family. I hate pregnancy so its not for me. But if pregnancy wasn't so harsh for me, I would have a kid every other year.

What the fuck are you talking about?

Pregnancy is harsh. I had third degree tears to prove it, and yet I managed to squeeze out a second a few years later.

But 2 was my limit.

So if "pregnancy" is not for you, neither is having kids, dumb ass.

And you do know that these "poisonous BC pills" can be replaced with condoms. I've been married 9 years; I have 2 kids. Condoms work.

Why would you assume that? I'm not anti-feminist at all and I don't play a submissive role to my husband. We are very much equal. There is no reason to pity my daughters. They have a very happy, healthy, and stable life
