I grew up with 8 kids in my family. My dad "made too much money" for us to get college loans, but he didn't pay a dime for us to go to college. We had to make our own money and take 2 buses to school and back. Life was hard and some siblings has a really tough time. I don't envy this woman. I only had one kid so I could pay for her college. I wonder how OP expects to pay for college for 8 kids...hopefully the gov't won't. Or, maybe she doesn't believe in college education.

We send our kids to Catholic school, which is about $6K in tuition per child. It doesn't break the bank for us b/c it's about $14K total (with the nickel and diming). $6K x 8 . . . almost $50K? When you're making $300K, that's no big deal.

If the family doesn't help out, why mention they're well off (as most will ASSUME that family is helping out) And come one - $50 here for a birthday, $100 there for a baptism . . . right into the bank accounts

THIS! OP mentions that her and husband's families are well off in the context of how she is going to pay for college - but then insists that they're not taking any money from anyone. Doesn't add up. I suspect that the kids' education, for college anyway, is going to be heavily sponsored by wealthy family. Which is fine, but wish OP would just fess up and not go on to talk about how she was taught to work hard, etc.
