OP, my kids drink milk or water. Just so you know not everyone out there is part of the self-righteous lecture brigade, I too send a juice pouch to school with them pretty much every day for lunch. I usually buy Honest Kids Lemonade which is more expensive but fairly low in sugar and calories (cheapest at Target). But other than that no sugared drinks except as a treat. And for the record, we drink juice in our house and my kids are 10 and 7, no cavities, very healthy weight, very active, eat lots of fruits and veggies, and same with us the parents. We even let them eat dessert most nights. I believe in moderation in all things.
I would like to move the kids away from the juice pouches at lunch to water because I think they'd rather have the calories/sugar elsewhere, but I haven't found a good reuseable water bottle that they don't object to. The Sigg ones smell awful and make the water taste metallic and the plastic ones have a funny plasticy flavor and if I forget to wash them once they get mildewy and impossible to clean. |
When my kids have their daily heroin I skip the juice too, good advice! |

Best thread ever.
And "vulgar" PP, give it a rest. Or at least get a thesaurus and learn some new insults. |
| Home made fruit compote. |
| Milk or water. They are 12 and 10. |
| Only water. Ages 16, 14 and 11. |
Isn't that kind of . . . thick? |
| Water, juice, or milk if we really push it. |
| Only water, ever. My 5 year old doesn't want anything else, and my 7 year old will drink the whole glass of juice of milk first, then not eat her meal or pick at it. She will then say she is thirsty and ask for more. It's better if we just stick to water and at this point they don't know any differently. |
Hahahahahahahaha....love it. |
Not the one I make. I boil fruits in water, add a little amount of sugar. When it's cold, I put into glass bottle, and throw out the boiled fruits. It's a drink, not dessert. |
And it's not compote. |
| Milk or occasionally water. |
| 14 yo - Milk (and I do too) unless we are having Breakfast for Dinner, those nights OJ |
