Apologize for being a bridezilla many years ago?

Are some brides really THAT nasty? Really?

Yes. They are. One of my best friends from high school treated me like shit when I flew across the country to be in her wedding. I phased out our friendship after that.

While I like PPs phrasing, I agree that it may have been some other reason that you drifted apart. No good friend drifts apart over a wedding, really.

I did.

A friend asked me to be a bridesmaid and then treated me quite poorly -- not as a person but as a prop for her "special day." As her demands grew and grew over the months, I started seeing our friendship in a new light. I realized it was more about convenience than a true give-and-take, and there was always drama. So. Much. Drama.

So after putting a smile on my face and doing my job as a bridesmaid, I very intentionally drifted away. We lost touch and are no longer friends. No regrets.

+1

Major events crystallize dynamics that existed before or reveal ugly sides of people that may outweigh former positives.

A few of my high school friends stopped talking to me shortly thereafter and I didn't really get it at first, but a few years later realized how my behavior looked to them. I thought at the time that I was being reasonable and nice, but now I'm embarassed. One of these things to just let go and chalk up to maturing? Or is there some way to apologize?

Never hurts to apologize

Sounds like the apology is all about YOU, just like your precious special day.

OH MY GOD!!!!

When I think I've seen it all here on DCUM now I learn that if I recognize my mistake and try to apologize I'm actually being a selfish asshole and just thinking about myself.

WTH is wrong with you, people?
