I live close to this place. It's always looked so sketchy from the outside that I've never been in. But I'm willing to broaden my horizons. |
These would be my pics. |

Biden was at Metro 29 today:
http://www.arlnow.com/2012/12/07/biden-visits-metro-29-diner/ We like Jack's in Old Town Alexandria. Definitely not an East Coast diner (only open in the morning, small menu, tiny space), but a great little breakfast spot that might satisfy some of that itch. Haven't found a real diner in the DC area that I love. Was already eager to try Metro 29 based on this thread's recommendations. AFTER ITS STAR TURN THIS AFTERNOON I AM DEFINITELY GOING TO TRY IT SOON. |
This place is so mediocre it's not even worth going for ice cream. Name one good entree standout on the menu. |
| Forget this area. Go to Baltimore to the Sip N Bite. You will be very happy. |
| MGM Roast Beef isn't quite a diner, but does good diner-type breakfasts. |
As close to authentic as it gets around here. |
I lived in NJ for several years and I agree -- American City Diner is as good as it gets around here -- food varies in quality, but the ambiance and service is diner-style at its best. Tastee is a greasy spoon and I love the food and service at Silver Diner, but it's not a real diner. My kids, all born here and know in HS and college, practically grew up at American City Diner. The best part of doing the Northeast college tours with our older kids was familarizing them with real diners. |
