| I'm from a place in the northeast where diners rule. I'm looking for a good area diner. I'm in Bethesda but will travel around the beltway for an authentic diner experience! |
| Tastee diner in Bethesda |
| Bob and Edith's Columbia Pike, Arlington |
| Sorry, Tastee isn't a good diner. I've been to diners in NJ/NY/New England areas. Tastee is definitely not a good diner. |
| I like Broadway dinner in Rockville. Great greek food. Great pies. |
| Broadway Diner in Rockville closed a long while back. It became Hollywood Diner which also closed (it was not good) Recentally a new one opened in its place...haven't tried it yet. |
tastee diner is gross. Poor food and it smells. Unfortunately we are diner deprived in this area. There are not a lot of choices. Silver Diner would be the other to try. |
|
Tastee diner is cheap, but not great.
Silver diner is yuppie diner food. Don't get me wrong, I love it, but it's not a traditional diner, it's a chain diner. Best traditional diners in the area: Nautilus Diner has two locations, Crofton and Timonium (north side of Baltimore) Double T diner is a Baltimore chain (8 locations) closest is Catonsville, but you can find other locations at: http://doubletdiner.com/ Note, both of the above are Greek family owned style restaurants, not the greasy spoon type diners that we had back home when I great up. But, these do great diner food. 29 in Fairfax is okay, but not as good as the above two. |

You might try Amphora in Vienna. It is not a diner per se, but one part of the restaurant has booths and a counter you can sit at and order. Huge menu, decor is like a throwback to the 70s.

| When I think diner, I think of the places I grew up with on Long Island with 10-page menus full of everything you can think of from breakfast to pizza burgers. There are two places in Nova that fit that for me (sorry, I don't know MD): Amphora Diner in Vienna and Metro 29 Diner in Arlington (on Lee Hwy). The food isn't awesome, but it is good enough and they are nice diners with good variety. |
| I second Metro 29 in Arlington for all around good food.....it was featured in Diner, Drive-Ins and Dives. There is also a DDD place in Silver Spring but haven't tried it yet. |
| Love Natilus! |
This is like looking for the holy grail around here. |
I third this rec. The french toast at metro 29 is to die for!!! |
|
Metro 29 or Amphora.
Silver Diner is NOT a diner. |
