I guess you missed the point of kids not taking time to wipe very well. |
| 2x a day! Shower to wake up, and a salt bath to unwind at night. Let’s just say our kid is super clean, but it’s more about setting the mood for the day and de stressing at night. |
This. Unless it's really late and they are completely exhausted, my kids want a bath or shower ever night. It's such a part of their routine that they ask for it. |
I guess you missed the part where that post was written over 6 years ago. |

MY 9 yo DD showers 2x a week in the winter unless she goes swimming or does something really sweaty.
Not all bodies are the same. If she smelled or were greasy looking, I would make her shower more. But we all have dry skin and hair - our bodies just produce less oil, especially in the winter. As an adult I shower every 2-3 days in the winter. If I showered daily in the winter, I'd want to itch my skin off - it would be so uncomfortable. |
|
We do every other night, or every night that she has physical activity. During the soccer season, when she's playing 5-6 days a week, she showers after every practice or game day.
I don't let her go more than a day without a shower, or her hair will look greasy. |
This is wrong for MANY people. Normally I shower every other day, on workout days. My child showers every 2-3 days depending on her schedule and if she needs it. Our hair type does better if you go a few days without washing. Her hair gets horrible if we wash it daily (like we do over the summer when she's swimming daily). Mine does as well. Our hair looks the best on day 2/3 after washing. We also have good shower caps so even if we need a shower before we're due for a hair wash we're covered. |
| My 8 year old does 2x per week, and plays travel soccer. If he stinks for looks dirty, then more than 2x per week. |

Mom of 8 year old here. In the winter, every other day or so + days of sports games. So 3-5 times a week.
In he summer, it just ends up being more because we swim almost every day. Then we have to deal with dry skin and hair, I.e. lots of lotion and conditioner. |
| Every other day in the winter, daily in the summer as she's in the pool every day and covered in chlorine and other funk. Plus, like me, her hair turns green from chlorine if we don't get it out immediately. |
| We do every other night for my seven year old but also always bathe after swimming or sports practice. |
| I have 2 boys; they're 14 and 10, so not 8, but they shower every night, they rarely miss a night. |
No to be snarky but washing your skin and hair daily is absolutely terrible for both. Especially in the winter and even more if you have dry skin, eczema, etc... It also helps decrease risks of infections by keeping good body fihgting bacteria on your skin and avoiding cracks in skin that would allow bad bacteria to enter. Kids especially. The more dirt and good germs that are on them, the less likely they will get sick, have rashes, and in the long run has even shown to prevent certain cancers. Unless you are genuinely dirty or sweaty, there is no need to shower daily. Washing hair should be 3x a week maximum. America is nuts with the over-washing obsession. |
| Really depends on the child, activity level, season etc. In winter, DC1 is encouraged to take a shower every 2-3 days at night. DC1 tends to feel very cold and has dry skin. DC2 takes a daily shower in the morning - combination skin and runs hot all the time. They wash up every day and change undergarments every day. |
I think your 5yo is at the school I work at. The greasy hair is really sad. You should feel bad. |
