No to be snarky but washing your skin and hair daily is absolutely terrible for both. Especially in the winter and even more if you have dry skin, eczema, etc... It also helps decrease risks of infections by keeping good body fihgting bacteria on your skin and avoiding cracks in skin that would allow bad bacteria to enter. Kids especially. The more dirt and good germs that are on them, the less likely they will get sick, have rashes, and in the long run has even shown to prevent certain cancers.

Unless you are genuinely dirty or sweaty, there is no need to shower daily. Washing hair should be 3x a week maximum.

America is nuts with the over-washing obsession.

Yeah, Americans and their disgusting obsession with cleanliness.

I have a friend who changes her family’s sheets (parents, 3 kids) twice a week. She also uses full scent tide and scented fabric softener on everything. I’m sure she is shower obessed too.

And all anti-bacterial soap too. I know the kind. Poor kids will end up have allergies, asthma, and maybe even leukemia.

A shower takes about 2 minutes. Think about all the things kids come in contact with at school. I would imagine not all kids are not great wipers either....

Every other day.

Every other day and days where she has sports practice. She also wears deodorant now.

You are the sick one. Leukemia? Really? Wtf is wrong with you?

And my kid is clean. Washes his hands all the time, showers daily, clean clothes and deodorant, very hygiene focused. He has no allergies, no asthma and he’s healthy. He’s also 12 and has always been this way. You dirty, lazy parents will use any excuse.

From 5 to 8 years old, usually just one time a week. At 8, now two times per week. Kids never stink, but are very active. Healthy kids who are almost never sick.

I shower daily, and wish I didn’t. My scalp is dry and so is my skin. But I feel gross if I don’t shower. I am starting to slowly wean myself down to every other day but even though I try I have trouble skipping more than 2 showers a week. I don’t like this terrible habit so I have my kids shower less to get used to the feeling of not showering. My DD9 swims twice a week and showers after that and I let her take one or two extra showers on top of that a week. But I really don’t want her to fall into the pattern that I have because it’s an itchy, scratchy existence.

Not the PP you are horrifically berating but she is absolutely right. Numerous studies that childhood blood cancers are higher in kids who are not in daycare, who use anti-bacterial soaps often and are worried about cleansliness. The thought is kids not exposed to healthy bacteria and germs or kids who don’t build up their immune system early are more succeptible

Also tons of studies that kids that have animals from birth do not have pet allergies.

Lady you are neurotic. What 12yr old boy is hygiene-focused? Poor kid.

Daily, on school days. School is completely gross, and kids come back actually smelling like school. We'll skip a day if he's just been home all day.

I'm a teacher, and I'm pretty sure your 8 year old does stink....you just don't notice. Twice a week showers is not enough, and kind of gross.
