How old were you when you lost your virginity?

Hmm I'd rather hear about the fun...

on a side note, I have no idea how seemingly educated people have sex at 13 or 14. I went to a top suburban public high school and almost all the honors kids were virgins at graduation.

I don't get the sex at 13 or 14 thing either. Are many people actually emotionally ready to have sex that young?

I'm one of the 14 posters and I went to one of the schools where everyone on the private schools forum wishes their daughter would go. Did pretty well there, too.

09:11 poster here.

Re: sex at a young 13. Was maybe not emotionally ready, but physically it was great. No hang-ups about sex...was just very sexual at a young age. I'm still a very sexual person and love porn and many many things that involve sex.

Smarts have nothing to do with it...I was an A student and consistently on the honor roll in middle school. Some teens bloom late, some early.

I think some of you are really naive about what goes on in "good" schools. Horny teens are horny teens.

Agreed. I think perhaps the difference is that money affords one the opportunity to hide these types of things.
Low income-a baby results making one a teen parent.
Monied background=girls are sent away and the children given up or the babies are aborted.

I can't believe this is even considered. Went to a top school and we had more abortions than you would believe.

19 and he was 20. I was his second.

I was among the first of my close college friends to have sex. Pretty sure one of them still hasn't, and we are 36.

Geez, I thought everyone in my HS was doing it at 16 and 17, back in the 80's.

I went to a non-HYP Ivy, and an informal survey of our freshman year floor (in the mid 90's) had at least half virgins at the time. Surveys of harvard and princeton have shown almost half of students are virgins at those places. maybe the philly suburbs are somewhat different than other places...even my friend who was an all region linebacker had to wait til 16 or so.

or perhaps private school kids start earlier because of more drugs/alcohol around?

I was 19. He was 22. And we ended up getting married! Now I wish I'd had a little more experience, but he was and is my soulmate -- can't pick when you'll meet him, can you?

No. I was 24 (TWENTY FOUR, PEOPLE!!!). Heh. I was self-conscious about having waited so long, but to be honest, I had a great first-time experience and certainly was no wall flower after that.

I waited so long for "the first time" not for moral or ethical reasons. Mostly it was because I just didn't want to have a serious relationship with anyone, and to my mind, sex meant a serious relationship. Plus I was shy, or shy-ish.
