If you have an opinion about Inspired Teaching please post here. If you want to discuss Yu Ying there are thousands of strings on DCUM to pick from.

This. Seriously, how exactly did this thread get hijacked with talk about Yu Ying? I just came to add my two cents about IT, and it's all about Yu Ying. Again.

Anyway, just wanted to comment on how happy I too have been with my experience thus far at IT. Although my child is not in the Pre-K class, it does seem to be an active and lively environment, as does every classroom I walk past when I drop off and pick up. Not only do all the teachers I have met seem to be extremely friendly, and dedicated, but the children I encounter every day are happy! So, so happy, and my own little one becomes so disappointed when it's time to leave. From the other posts I've read, and other parents I've spoken with, it seems that this is happening school wide, which I feel is quite rare. We're so happy we got into the school, and we're looking forward to supporting it for years to come!

I think I'm the guilty one. I didn't mean to hijack, just wanted to comment on the potential perils of showing enthusiasm about new schools. Within about 5 positive posts about Yu Ying during its first year people were already leaping to criticize the "boosters". That hasn't happened here so far but I'm just saying it's worth taking into consideration. Incidentally I've found it interesting to compare IT parent comments to those of Mundo Verde parents which seem a bit more reserved. Am I right about that? Here's hoping this question moves us beyond more yakking about YY!

I don't know much about MV but I think the difference is that there are probably more parents there who have kids that are attending school for the first time (I believe it only goes to K).

ITS goes to the 3rd grade and has quite a number of kids who have transferred from other schools, so parents have something to compare the experience to. Additionally, a 2nd or 3rd grader can more clearly articulate their likes and dislikes. My daughter was having so much fun at ITS that I asked her was she actually LEARNING anything. She said, "Of course Mom! They just teach you in a way that's not boring!" I wish growing up I had had this kind of learning experience. It's very hands on; very interactive. The teachers seem to create as many opportunities as possible for the children to learn by "doing," which sticks with you as opposed to rote memorization.

There also seems to be a more than average number of parents who are educators and/or in education related fields. These parents are extremely excited about the philosophy and approach to teaching that ITS emphasizes and are more likely to be active users of DCUM.

Ack, my kid is only 18 months and I've been drooling all over this school. By the time he's ready to go, I just KNOW it's going to be impossible to get into...
