Betsy is an honest and forthright person....I would bet she left not of her own accord....I am sad and hope there will be resolution to this secretive situation

Maybe Betsy had to go because she was't dedicated to the school. Is that why there is no plaque with her name on it, attesting to her general greatness? You know, like the one on the playground?

OK - so obviously this was a dig against the Shaun. Let's please try to keep this discussion focused on the issue at hand. Thank you.

There is no discussion. We are no closer to the answer...5 pages into this thread! Like your name of for the President & CEO though.

Sure there's a discussion - I just want to know Betsy is ok. Everything else isn't my concern right now.

We all know the Shaun reads this board, and I am sure other members of the board are reading this, too.

I wonder why no response?

Do they serioulsy expect a parent to confront them?

I did that on on occassion and was labelled a troublemaker and threatened to be kicked out - just for voicing a concern about a policy. You absolutely can't question any policies or decisions that are made All the lines they feed you about how they value their relationships with the parents and the children of are utmost importance are bullshit.

Yes, I am free to stay, but my kid just recently got adjusted and I can't switch him again - we are out of there at the end of the year. Too bad - most (not all) teachers seem pretty decent....

Maybe Betsy got tired of being the middle man with the disputes...

Who is Betsy? I saw nobody mentioned with that name in the recent newsletter.

Should be an interesting potluck on the 16th!

When is the Halloween event? I'll dress as Betsy! It would have to be with a mask so that we don't get thrown out of the school.

Several people have made reference to being afraid of being labelled a "troublemaker" and being threatened to be kicked out.... That within itself is a big issue. We pay for a service from this organization, and we trust them with the most important things in our lives (our children!) but we don't have a right to communicate openly? Don't be mistaken, I am not asking for specific information, I am just asking for my concerns to be heard, with all situations, and not feel like I am putting my head on the chopping block. How can we do this? Attend a board meeting? As I quoted a previous poster, maybe Betsy did get tired of the middle man, I can totally understand if she did.

Here is what we can conclude with some certainty…Betsy didn’t leave on her own accord. It would be highly unusually for a person not to give 2 weeks notice when leaving a job. It is however not uncommon to be fired and asked to leave immediately. None of us have evidence to this, just a hunch and common sense knowing workplace courtesy and Betsy’s nature. Since everyone has been tight lipped on her departure, we can also assume there are some legal implications as to why; which only heightens the gossip. We can hope that the board, at least, was involved in the decision and that the directors and office aren’t making decisions about the school in a vacuum. It is the board’s responsibility that the school, directors, teachers, and president are truly representing the parents and children of the school and their best interests. If that isn’t the case, the board has some work to do on defining roles and responsibilities. If someone in the school’s management position is asked to leave, the board should be relaying that message to the parents.

Regardless, Betsy is gone. We all wish her the best whatever direction her life takes her. She was a teacher, friend, and confidant and we will miss her.

I agree. If the Board and/or president is reading this, please know that many parents (dozens of them, on this message board alone) are dissatisfied with the school's handling of the situation. Betsy was an integral part of the community and means a lot to many of us - something feels weird, and we at least deserve an acknowledgement of our concerns.

I find it hard to believe that families are threatened with expulsion for asking questions.

My impression has always been that they need every student they can get.

I've decided to let it go. We'll never know what happened and I don't need to know.

I would like a clearer picture of the future though. I hope that is addressed soon. It is untenable to continue piecemeal as they are now.

This whole situation has left a very bad taste in my mouth. I don't want to cause a disruption for my child by moving out of the center, so we'll stay for now. However, I won't be recommending RSCC so enthusiastically anymore. Thank goodness for the many wonderful teachers. The management certainly leaves a lot to be desired. The fact that they're not being more forthcoming about what's going on is really damaging the school's reputation, but they don't seem to care. If you're reading this, and I know you are, it's time for some damage control!

I completely agree with this. I am looking at other options in the area and certainly won't be recommending this place. Separate vent: Who's idea was it to re-seed the older kids playground, on a hill, with kids running around? How long did the grass last? 2 days? And now the whole playground is a mud pit that will take days to dry off. Maybe it was betsy's idea andf that is why she was let go....
