"Larla" as girl's name

i really dislike it.

Kind of sounds like a washed-up country singer. Wasn't there one called Larleen in The Simpsons?

Can't think when I've ever seen this kind of unanimity on DCUM. Adding to the chorus, I say no, please don't do it.

I love it, and I think secretly everyone else does, they just don't want their daughters to have to go by Larla B., and Larla G. and Larla P. in kindergarten in five years. Stop the hating!

I'm going to be the first one to spell it backwards as Alral!

This is seriously the BEST thread I've ever read on DCUM. Have laughed out loud at 4 separate posts. Thank you OP for finding the one ridiculous thing that everyone on here can giggle about.

And my new favorite name is Phartyn. Finally, something to takeover for Mulva, which is just beginning to feel as dated as Linda, Sylvia, and something else recently on a name post I can't remember.

Btw - do tell us what you end up naming your daughter.

Wow - some people are so mean in their responses. But I really don't like it either.

If you love it, OP, I say name your DD Laurel and you can call her Larla or Larl as your nickname.

For the record, I have a DD with an unusual (but NOT made-up!) name and I've realized since she was born that as long as she lives in this country, she is always going to have to say her name twice/spell it out for many people when introducing herself. It's not fun. It seems burdensome. Give your DD a name where she'll have a choice of whether she wants to go with your beloved nickname or not.

P.S. OP, were you joking when you wrote this? Personally, I am rooting for high, not that I am condoning such behavior, esp. not for someone with child.

What about "Glarval"? With the 'g' pronounced as kind of a soft 'g'?

Am I dating myself when I say that, ever since I first saw this thread, I have been humming Layla by Derek and the Dominos?

how about dartagnan?

No. Horrible.

Please don't make up names.

Is Mulva a popuar name right now?? Please tell me it isn't!

And I don't get the whole spelling a name wrong so it isn't the same name, but it really is.
Someone names their daughter Kayleigh, is that really different than Kaylee?
Except that Kayleigh is going to have to spell out her name for ever and ever for everyone.
I guess Kayleigh will talk about her annoying parents in future online anonymous websites
