"Larla" as girl's name

L and R are two of the most difficult for kids to pronounce. Everyone in preK will call her "Wawa".

LOVE IT. So it would be classy, like Gigi pronounced the French way? (More like Zhi Zhi) Only way better because it is Glarval. Or do you want the ge sound like gentry? like "ge-larval?" I like where this is going.

Ooh, also good. Is this child related to Glarval?

Only problem with dartagnan is that it is so clearly female. What if you have a boy?

Anonymous wrote:If you love it, OP, I say name your DD Laurel and you can call her Larla or Larl as your nickname.

For the record, I have a DD with an unusual (but NOT made-up!) name and I've realized since she was born that as long as she lives in this country, she is always going to have to say her name twice/spell it out for many people when introducing herself. It's not fun. It seems burdensome. Give your DD a name where she'll have a choice of whether she wants to go with your beloved nickname or not.

P.S. OP, were you joking when you wrote this? Personally, I am rooting for high, not that I am condoning such behavior, esp. not for someone with child.

My daughter's name is Laurel, and she is constantly correcting others that her name is NOT Laura (or Lauren). That being said, I wouldn't change my choice of name for her. I am sorry, but I have to agree with the masses, and say Larla is just not pretty. Maybe Laurla, but the "Lar" sound made me think of lard.

Then she's going to have to make good coffee.

Oh, and the name Pharten. Love it, but I used to know one. The man who owned the Chinese resturant, when I was a kid, was named Far Tin Lamb. No joke.

OP, why not check this site out. You can have them generate a custom name for you:

Now you tell me. Where is that thread on "can I change my baby's name after I get the birth certificate?" when you need it? I wanna change my mind - totally thought it was original. Crying.

And c'mon, it's Farten, people. We are traditional spellers here.

Sounds like you live in a trailer park in the deep South somewhere.

OP here,

I just wanted to see how far this fake thread would go. I am actually going to name DD Caroline.

Thanks for playing along!

My ex SIL name her DD Lynley (after her mother Lynn and father Stanley). I think you just topped it, OP.

That's actually not an out there name. It sounds the same as if she had been given two first names (Lynn Leigh).

Larla has that same gross mouthfeel as "vulva".

fake post or not, I am just chuckling that someone managed to get mouthfeel and vulva in the same sentence without realizing it.
