I got off a plane with Jodie Foster once and she was really nice but seemed quiet and shy. I showed her where to get her car service pick up. This was after the whole crazy John Hinkley thing so I was worried about her being unattended in big old DC.

Once when my DD was little...we live in the not as rich part of Georgetown...she went trick or treating to the mansion part of G'town. We didn't know it was his house, but it was Ben Bradley of the Wash. Post. He was so sweet to my daughter...he offered her to take as much candy as she wanted. She being the little Montessori girl...just took one piece and Mr. Bradley complimented her on her discipline. He was charming.

Another time my DD got Bryant Gumbel's autograph coming off a plane. He was really nice to her. I used to see a lot of celebs at LA Sport and earlier at the then Westin working out. These folks have to stay in shape afterall --Arnold Swarz., Maria Shriver, Brooke Shields, many pro athletes, etc. The only jerk was Barry Bonds...that was even before anyone knew about the supposed steroids.

To the earlier poster from Capitol Hill -- yes...there were many gropers 30 years ago and still are. I loved how they shamed Weiner when many of them were sex addicts before the internet...I saw Sherrod Brown on tv tsstssking Weiner...when he was in the statehous of OH he groped many women.

I was fresh out of college, and was the youngest staffer in the office and the only woman who wasn't a secretary. Whether you like it or not, this kind of thing happened all the time to young women back then, and if you went up against the word of a powerful man, you were out of a job. The protections we have today didn't exist then. Times changed, thankfully. You learn, grow, and get stronger along the way. After the Hill, I went on to become the first female director in a company in a then-male-dominated industry. I worked hard for gender equality in the industry, and did all I could to ensure that the women coming up after me didn't have to deal with the same kind of sexism and harassment issues we had to deal with as young women. Ridiculous, indeed.

Thank you.

And in a way, it's nice that people find it unbelievable. Shows the kind of change that's really happened.

Oh I would have been all over that. Which one, Steve or the new one?

The first one...Steve.

I was at the Google Ball for Obama's inauguration and John Cusack almost knocked me off my (in retrospect poor decision) 3" heels. He caught me by the arm and apologized a bunch. I was stunned and am pretty sure I just gaped at him.

He was a lot taller than I thought he'd be, but other than that, he was as expected.

About 10 minutes later, I was standing next to Wolf Blitzer in the line for the bar when he was mobbed by a bunch of adoring 20-something men wanting his career advice. He looked annoyed and bored.

Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins were staying at the same resort as us in St. Thomas like, 15 years ago. They seemed very grounded and very real.

Kevin Federline was staying at the same hotel as us in Hawaii...my sister heard him yelling at Brittany Spears on the phone. This was not too long before they split.

Maury Povich is my cousin.

I sat next to Angela Bassett at the Kennedy Center once. Her arms are rocks and she is very, very sweet. That same evening I stepped on Aretha Franklins dress by accident. She was not happy.

Warren Beatty and a housemate of mine in Baltimore went on a date about 24 years ago. I saw him pull up in a Mercedes and she ran out. He had seen an essay she had written about being an artist's (i.e., nude) model and tracked her down.

This one is my favorite because I love, love REM. I know I probably shouldn't be jealous of groupie sex but I sort of am.

I walked past Anthony Bourdain and his family at National a few years ago and spun around to go tell him how much I like his books and his show. I was sort of embarrassed to bother him, though, and ran off before he could say much back but I think he smiled.

I nodded hello to Spike Lee at a bar in NYC once when we were right next to each other ordering drinks. He was about half my size (I'm 5'10").

Interesting one: I was with my family in Memphis, TN. We were coming out of one of the malls there and in walks Jackie Joyner-Kersee. I was about 19 at the time and I yell out, "There's Florence Griffith-Joyner!" Jackie goes, "She's dead." I felt so dumb, but she laughed. She must have gotten that all the time.

DH and I in the table next to Jennifer Lopez's husband #2 at a restaurant in Vegas.

Randomly saw Lance Bass walking around the Planet Hollywood Casino. Also in Vegas.

He smiled at me, and gave me the program. A few nights later, we were at a caberet in town, and I found myself sitting at a table with Reeve on one side and Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward on the other.

As an early-20s Hill staffer, I was representing my boss, the U.S. Senator, at a luncheon. A Senator from the next state in alphabetical order sat next to me and felt me up. I was too meek to say anything. He went on to become a high official in a future Administration. Ick.

How can people just sit there and let this shit happen? Unbelievable that you'd be so cowed not to do anything. Ridiculous.

I love you. I really do. A huge enormous thanks! And to the PP, apologize to her. Now.

I was there, too! I talked to Ben Affleck and told him that I thought his girls were adorable. He was nice!

I once had dinner and beers (group of us) with the drummer from Wilco.

I grew up in LA and went to school or ballet classes with child actors (danica mckeller, meredith salenger) children of actors/hollywood people (too many to mention all, but Tori Spelling, OJ's older daughter, Hal Holbrooke. Pierce Brosnan, etc), and ppl who became actors or other famous people (Jenna Elfman, Jacob Dylan). But I wasn't really close to any of these people, it was more just part of growing up in los angeles.

I also kissed the a member of...wait...don't get jealous...Menudo...back in 1985 when they were staying in a hotel in LA and I was visiting my cousin, and we were all hanging out in the jacuzzi. I think it was Johnny Lozada, but to be honest I am not sure. I guess I peaked at age 15.

If you grew up in McLean in the early 1980s, you probably met Dick Cheney or one of his DDs.
