have you ever had a memorable celebrity encounter? or been hit on by someone famous?

I've had jobs at several places where I've come into contact with tv/movie/sports celebrities as well as royalty.

Tho my best was hanging out and drinking beer (well Guiness and Harp) with U2 while they were filming Rattle and Hum for three shows at Sun Devil Stadium at Arizona State University.

At the Williamstown Theatre Festival in the mid-80s, I was reaching down for a program at the same time as someone else. Turned out it was Christopher Reeve (pre-accident). He smiled at me, and gave me the program. A few nights later, we were at a caberet in town, and I found myself sitting at a table with Reeve on one side and Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward on the other.

As an early-20s Hill staffer, I was representing my boss, the U.S. Senator, at a luncheon. A Senator from the next state in alphabetical order sat next to me and felt me up. I was too meek to say anything. He went on to become a high official in a future Administration. Ick.

We were having a work dinner at the Capitol Grille (about 10 years ago), and Clint Eastwood walked in. He smiled at people, shook some hands and then disappeared (I'm guessing to a private room because we didn't see him again that night).

I am female and was hit on by Courtney Love at Tips in New Orleans on Halloween in early,mid-90s.

I just sort of made it clear that I was with somebody and wasn't going to leave my date (yes female) for her.

I was honored to be honest. To be flirted with by someone who has hot groupies throwing themselves at them all the time is, I think, a complement. I didn't know she was interested in girls at the time. Maybe it was something she only did on holidays.

In high school I worked at Paragon Sporting Goods in NYC, which for some strange reason was a magnet for celebrities who needed camping equipment. I helped Spike Lee, Diana Ross, Simon Le Bon (who was buying nike aqua socks for his entire family, and who was so puffy and bloated that I didn't even realize it was him until I was ringing him up and took his credit card), Debbie Harry, and Matt Dillon. It was really cool, and I never got jaded by any of it. I loved seeing/helping celebrities in the store. This was back in 1989-1990, and if it was today, I'm sure I'd be the one taking photos and posting them on my FB page. I also ate dinner one time at a table next to Uma Thurman and Timothy Hutton. And I saw Ted Kennedy walking out of the uptown theater while I was waiting in line to see Primary Colors, way back when...

How can people just sit there and let this shit happen? Unbelievable that you'd be so cowed not to do anything. Ridiculous.

Maybe we're from the same town? I used to wait tables in college when home for the summer and loved it when Paul Newman came in- great tipper and easy on the eyes, yes even in his 70s !!).

I worked at Abercombie and Fitch one summer and helped Harry Connick Jr shop for his wife (a Victoria Secret model).

I was walking in a snow storm in the East Village of NYC and walked by a particularly beautiful woman walking arm in arm with a man. It wasn't until I walked past and heard his voice that I realized it was Matt Damon and Penelope Cruz (must have been 2000 after they filmed All the Pretty Horses together).

Carla Hall rubbed my belly when I was pregnant!

In Pasadena, CA just after the OJ trial, I ran into Lance Ito and his (wife?) walking their dog. They smiled and said hi.

I met and chatted with Dave Matthews on the way to a Dead Show in Vegas in 1994. It was at the Pittsburgh airport and whole waiting area was filled with people going to the show. It was a pretty upbeat place and everyone was chatting. I started talking to the guy next to me and he commented that he was so happy to be going to his first show. It took me a while to figure out who he was. Turns out he was opening the show. This was in the Under the Table and Dreaming years and he was pretty laid back.

I also played pool and drank with the guitar player from STP but my friend and I thought it would be cooler if we pretended we didn't know who he was so we didn't mention it.

I met Michael Emerson (Ben) from "Lost" walking down the street in Manhattan. In DC I've met George Stephanopoulos, John Edwards, Eric Holder and more of those types through my job. Oh, and I got hit on by the Reggae singer "Shaggy" such a charmer, they were all really nice actually.

Knew most of the New Kids on the Block growing up. Mark Wahlberg was an adorable little kid.

Would love to hear if these celebrities look like they do in the movies/magazine. I was the John Cusak/James Spader poster and they looked just like they did. Except, Spader seemed shorter and puffier in real life.

We were leaving McCormick and Schmidts in Tysons on time and Newt G. walked in for take out in berkenstocks and madras shorts. Very memorable!!

I attended a wedding and since the groom did Andrea Mitchell's makeup for her (his job), she was there. She was very nice and I chatted with her briefly.

Ha. Easy for you to say from your comfy, enlightened perch in 2011. This was 30 years ago. I was fresh out of college, and was the youngest staffer in the office and the only woman who wasn't a secretary. Whether you like it or not, this kind of thing happened all the time to young women back then, and if you went up against the word of a powerful man, you were out of a job. The protections we have today didn't exist then. Times changed, thankfully. You learn, grow, and get stronger along the way. After the Hill, I went on to become the first female director in a company in a then-male-dominated industry. I worked hard for gender equality in the industry, and did all I could to ensure that the women coming up after me didn't have to deal with the same kind of sexism and harassment issues we had to deal with as young women. Ridiculous, indeed.
