LAMB waitlist

I don't think they did for the first 60, but I have a # in the low 60s and am wondering if I'll be passed up for a Spanish-dominant household as they move through the wait list.

Yes, in effort to have a balance, they will pass through an English dominant for a Spanish one on the WL. I don't know what balance they aim for in terms of % however.

My complaint above is only based on my desire to have lottery results posted online.

Too bad there's not a centralized DCPCS lottery system that could facilitate this.

Are you sure it's legal for them to work the wait list to balance the language? I had heard that they were able to do it in the past b/c they preceded the law from the Charter Board. But now, b/c there is a new campus, I heard they had to adhere to the law that enrollment decisions could not be based on language. Anyone else hear something similar?

I also heard that they have a neighborhood preference - I did not think this was allowed.

And I also heard that each classroom has unicorns that shoot rainbows out their butts, and at the end of each rainbow is a pot of gold, so that when each kid graduates from LAMB, their family is a montessori millionaire!!

Seriously folks, stop with the speculation and trying to get everyone else riled up.

I actually spoke with the vice principle and she confirmed the language dominance preference. Don't know if they can do it, but have confirmation that they are doing it.

I heard this info from an administrator at the school.

It's really funny to make light of this, but it is pretty serious business for some. Those people actually might get more "riled up" after reading your incredibly hilarious comments.

So true. If my child ends up in one of classrooms that doesn't have a rainbow-butt unicorn? Well then, I'm filing a complaint with the school board!

My kid was WL #39 and I received an email on Tuesday that she got in. I'm attending the parent eduation program on 5/7 and plan on driving by the new location.

Does anyone have any photos of the new location . . . photos of the inside?

there is a link to a few pictures, either earlier in this post or the other recent LAMB Campus question posting (sorry to not find it for you - I can't remember which posting and I am on my phone so not easy to go back and look). It looks bright and well-cared for. My child will be attending and from those few pictures, I think she will be very happy there!
