LAMB waitlist

Regarding what to say...
I would start with the mission of the public charter school board and comment how expansion of LAMB aligns with the mission. That LAMB is a school that has demonstrated success. It is the only PCS in DC that is a dual language Montessori public charter school, and that there is great demand for this option as demonstrated by lengthly waitlists year over year. That the demonstrated track record of LAMB should provide them with confidence in the comprehensive review of the application that LAMB as demonstrated research-based programs, experienced leadership and community support.

Mission from the PCSB web site:
"The organization’s mission is to provide high quality public school options for District of Columbia students, families, and community through four functions:
? A comprehensive review application process—ensures that the PCSB only approves charter school applications that demonstrate research-based programs, experienced
leadership, and community support;
? Effective oversight—holds schools to high standards for results, with extensive reviews and data collection, and makes oversight decisions with the best interests of students in mind;
? Meaningful support—provides clear feedback and increased oversight to struggling schools, and rewards consistently high-performing schools with more autonomy; and
? Active engagement of stakeholders—solicits community input and strives to be responsive to and transparent with all who are impacted by and impact the PCSB and
public charter schools.

The PCSB’s vision is to lead the transformation of public education in DC and to serve as a national model for charter school authorizing and accountability.
At the heart of the organization’s core values is the belief that every child is entitled to a high quality educational experience that will enable him or her to leave high school well-prepared for college and careers."

LAMB's request to raise enrollment was approved. The DC Public Charter School Board just voted. Congrats to those families with low waitlist numbers. BTW Yu Ying & Appletee was approved as well.

PP thanks for the update! If anyone who has good WL #s gets a call tomorrow about getting off the WL, can you post here? I'm anxious to know how this is going to play out. Thanks!

Does anyone know what the school's plan is to notify people? I will call them but thought I'd check here first before harassing them
Anonymous
At the lottery they said that admitted families will receive an enrollment packet. Since they are just returning from Spring Break, I assume something will be mailled this week or next

When I called the school today and asked when waitlist families would be notified I was told when school ends/first week in July.

I really hope this is not true...

I hope it's not true either. Out of fairness to other families, I don't want to hold on to my second & third choice schools if I don't have to.

Perhaps you could at least decide between those two. That would help at least one other family.

Did everyone who applied get an invitation to the Spring Parent Education Workshops?

I just got an email from LAMB - I am not sure if we got this email b/c we will clear the waitlist when they open the new campus OR if they are getting better with their communications and did an email blast to everyone who was in the lottery.

Anyone else get it?

It sounds like good news for you...I did not get an email, and I was in the 100s on waitlist.

I also have a low WL and received an email Keeping fingers crossed...

We did receive the email and our WL # is 48. The email comes from Dana Clark. Wondering how broadly they sent this invite?

WL # in the high 20s, and we also received the email. I noted that for the English section, it began with "Dear Prospective Parent", but the Spanish greeting was "Dear Future Parent". Hmm....

Received the email, #49. I wonder if anyone above 60 received it?

I spoke to someone at the school today and they said they'd be sending out an email to families that will go to the Brookland campus and that it'd be out by the end of next week.
