How long could you survive if you were trapped in your house?

If they were, OP would understand that amount of food will not feed a family of 5 for a year unless the basement pantry is very large. It takes serious space to store a year’s worth of food.

(We are adding onions, celery, peppers, herbs if the house isnt locked) Do I immediately stretch it to eight? Sixteen? Or do I eat normally for a month hoping the house opens?

You would not do well, since you have no idea. A normal can of black beans has about 400 calories and a cup of uncooked rice about 700. If two people shared that for their daily rations, you would be in starvation mode.

A long time. We have a lot of land, ammo, animal traps, house can be heated by wood if needed, water source on our property, and we grow a lot of our own food. Running a canner over a wood burning set up would be a pain but possible. I save seeds from each crop for the next one, so we have that going on as well.

But in this hypothetical, we can't go outside. It does seem we are able to remove the floor to access under the house.

but you would not be able to go outside, you would be stuck in the house.

This makes no sense. Then just build a little tunnel or corridor that connects your house tot he chicken coop or whatever. Take down the floor, ceiling and walls and just leave some beams so you can grow food.

Right. I looked at the trailer. The family can't open doors or windows. They can remove floor and access earth. At that point they can tunnel under the foundation to the outside world. Unless there's a force field at the foundation. What about the roof? That's not in the trailer.

Just may have to watch this movie.

Never mind the food. If nobody could go out, there would be no power, no water, no plumbing in a hurry. Unless I had a well, I am dead as soon as water runs out, which would be less than a day, then die of thirst in a couple of days.

I also don't want to live when I have to drink water from toilet tank and can't get rid of my shit.

I said on the first page that we survived for nearly 4 years with no water, no power, and for a good chunk of that the pipes froze so we didn't have the ability to flush the waste either. It is horrendous but it doesn't kill you. Other than a nuclear disaster, which also doesn't last forever if you survive, you can go out and get water and food.

Until you're put in that situation and then you very much want to live.

Do you think people in Gaza are just committing suicide?

I know, but the premise was not able to go out.

I don't have to commit suicide, no water would kill me quickly. 3 -7 days?

I am so sorry that you had to live through that horrendous war. Nothing we imagine would compare to that.
