| Could be lots things. Maybe you don't have all the data. Maybe the coach thinks your kid will DQ in the other event and wants to give him another week of practice before throwing him into the A meet. Maybe the other kid swims for the coach's club team. Whatever the case may be just relax and enjoy the ride. Everyone is still kind of figuring things out during the first week. |

The other event is freestyle and my kid absolutely would not DQ in freestyle -- never has. But actually the other kid does swim on the coach's club team. Why would that matter though?
I don't want to be a PITA parent so I would not ask the rep or the coach. I also feel like it would be sort of abusing the information I have from my volunteer role if I used it to question the line up decisions. I am just hoping someone on this board can tell me a good reason my kid wouldn't be chosen so I will stop feeling bad about it. |
There is no good reason in freestyle. The only way you will know why is if you ask, but there really is no okay answer other than an apology because your child was overlooked somehow. At any rate, it can not be fixed for tomorrow. |
Go ahead and ask the rep. Pose it as “just trying to understand the process”. |
| By not publishing the ladder, teams can use non-points-scoring slots to play favorites too. |
| For all these teams that don’t post ladders, everyone on these teams can see all the meet programs and meet results I hope. Yes, publishing a ladder would be nice, but it isn’t difficult to determine who has the fastest times if you have the programs and results & if you’re only looking for like the 6-8 fastest times for each stroke for your swimmer’s age group. If you want the whole team, then not having a ladder is surely a pita I bet. |
| Do you all have access to B meet times? |
Our team does, posted on Swimtopia. Sometimes just our swimmers' times, sometimes both teams. |
| If I felt like another kid was picked over mine even though mine was higher on the ladder, I would without hesitation ask the team rep. |
+1 - there is a family on our team that is an absolute PITA. Over the past 5 years, have caused so much drama including accusing a team rep of embezzlement (falsely) and driving families away from the team. The mom has always kissed the a** of the coach and her child always seems to show up in a non-scoring slot on Saturday mornings despite being one of the slowest swimmers in his age group. |
| Teams that don’t make the ladder available are just asking for needless trouble in a timed sport. You also don’t need to include every kid on the ladder, just the top 6 or maybe 10 for freestyle. At this point, the meet results are available on SwimTopia anyway so people can figure out, as multiple parents did on this thread, when a coach is putting kids in events at A meets that are slower than other swimmers who are not otherwise maxed out on events. There is absolutely no reason Larlo should only swim 1 event when he is top 3 in multiple events and is objectively faster than kids who were selected to swim other events. |
| Why aren’t teams posting their meet progress on the Swimtopia app? I was following our club’s meet and then it disappeared. |
| All I can see on Swimtopia is my child’s results. Do you have to pay for “pro” to see more? |
I don’t know, but they will be on mynvsl |
| teams were requested not to publish a meet results on swimtopia until they could be "certified" |
