You can get amazing anything anywhere if you throw enough money at the problem.
We do Kauai for the nature, hikes, beaches and scenery. Food is decent. "Fairly good" compared to other parts of the world - expensive and decent. |
100%. People acting like OP is never going on vacation with the kids again. From the sounds of it, these kids will be getting annual or semi annual international trips. Calm down everyone. |
PP guess your mother did not teach you manners. Nope high performing kid who is well traveled since we prioritize it. During elementary years, his absolute favorite was Hawaii and Australia because there was so much to do at that age. |
| For those that have been to Oahu with kids - where do you recommend staying? Outside of Waikiki (already have 4 days planned there) |
You never know what a kid will remember, either. My kid's favorite bit from our London trip was when he played hide and seek with his cousins in Hyde Park (because he got to hide in Hyde Park). |
Not the PP who talked about kids being stupid, but my elementary schooler loved Greece and hates beaches. Kids are different, and it would have been helpful for OP to mention what her kids have liked in other travels. |
| Greece tends to be great only during certain months of the year. Hawaii is great pretty much year-round. That's the main difference IMO. |
OP said her kids are young elementary so prob 5-7 years old. They are not going to appreciate the things that makes Greece good besides the beaches. Hawaii is geared for more activities at that age. Plus staying at a fantastic all inclusive with kids club of which there are many great ones in Hawaii, not so in Greece, will give OP and spouse some of their own down time and do some non kids stuff. |
You obviously have never stayed at a high-end all-inclusive resort in Greece. Of course they have kids clubs. |
| Greece is too hot in the summer. I’d go with Hawaii. |
It's fine on many of the islands because the sea moderates the temperatures. Yes its warm of course, but never got above 88 for us in early August. And all the touristy places have air conditioning. |
| Seems like one person here is ratcheting up the hate on Hawaii for no reason, while everyone else is giving a balanced view of both. OP, take that FWIW. |
PP it’s not the same. They are very limited options in Greece and they are not huge resorts with lazy river pools, kids pools, etc…. |
No lazy rivers? Oh my God, the horror! |
| LOL at flying across the Atlantic for...resorts with lazy rivers. |
