Fact: There is tons of fraud in Medicaid.

I personally know two people who found fraud on their accounts. Both reported it and it appears action was taken.

One was fraud on Medicare.. The other was fraud for a disabled sibling on Medicaid.

Both people were legitimately covered and, in the Medicare case, it was fraud on fake prescriptions for medical equipment.
Family member has prosecuted these kinds of cases--apparently medical equipment is one of the biggest sources of fraud. One of his cases was a small town where many people had those portable oxygen machines. The doctor prescribed them for many of his patients who--apparently--did not need them. Those machines are on a subscription basis so the fraud goes on forever.

I am a senior citizen. It is amazing how many calls we get offering us "free stuff" that Medicare will pay for. Stuff we don't need or want.

But why does anyone NEED this stuff at all? How much are we spending to combat fraud? How much is that increasing our bills. Why give the fraudsters anything to exploit? Why give it to the drug companies that give us a false premise of living longer? Unless they can stop the aging process, the problem is futile.

NP. Are you asking why people need durable medical equipment such as portable oxygen, cpap machines, or wheelchairs? Breathing and mobility can be impacted by a variety of illnesses for quite some time before people die from their conditions. People who honestly qualify for coverage and legitimately need the things that they are prescribed in order to maintain their health and quality of life would have few options without their medicare/medicaid coverage. What alternative do you propose for them?

See above. DME is a little different but why should I expect anyone to pay for me? I will likely be unable to move by 65. DME ans drugs may make me comfortable while I die over the next 20 to 30 years. It isn’t living. Therefore, I believe the money should go to someone who can viably take care of themselves.

As i said, if you support abortion, you should support terminatuon at any age.

Clearly you have no one in your life that would be affected and an inability to care about those it will affect.

NP. I m facing a life debilitating disease in my late 50s. It would be selfish for me to take drugs to extend my life or anyone else’s. None of us are that special is that special nor should we submit to being human Guinea pigs. We live, we die. Give the money to the under 40s, grandpa. I’m sure either Trump or Dems will come to the same conclusion soon.

No, those of us with disabled family members are not going to advocate for their death. Are you out of your mind?

No, are you? Once I cannot bathe or go to the toilet on my own and require costly drugs to live, it is past time for me to go. Living like that is worse than if I had been an unwanted pregnancy. I am no longer viable outside the womb.

MIf you are a liberal/progressive but do not support pinching off dead leaves, yet support a woman’s right to terminate a pregnancy up until birth, you are a hypocrite. We cannot pay for all the other social programs unless we are all in this together.

There is no state where abortion is legal up until birth. There are fetal viability laws, defiantly after 2nd trimester.
This poster is a very horrible person. Comparing killing anyone not employed from disabilities as “pinching off a few dead leaves” is evil.
The MAGA truly are NAZIs.

Legałities have nothing to do with beliefs. Doesn’t matter if laws do not allow abortion to time of birth. Plenty believe that should be legal. You believe in autonomy or you don’t. Right to die for any reason should be legitimized.

Actually, I’m a liberal. Insist don’t see how spending in me, the dying makes financial sense. I’m looking to Belgium to assisted suicide. Why would i want to burden my family and society with my cafe. It is my ultimate way of giving back.

It’s not great, but it’s a minor nuisance compared with destroying NATO or possibly just canceling the general elections.

The problem is with how this might be administered.

If the administration were OK, there’s plenty of room here for officials to make allowances for people with intellectual disabilities or people with cancer.

And maybe you could argue that most people with intellectual disabilities want to be “engaged in the community.” If this law forced communities to expand work and volunteer programs for people with intellectual disabilities, that would be good.

If the current rules are too hard on people with sometimes of health concerns, good regulators could fix those rules.

The problem is, obviously, the difficulty of believing that the Trump administration will administer a program in a good way.

You talk a good game but who administers these volunteer programs? The staff must be paid. If the “volunteers “ are terribly afflicted there must be a supervisor for every five “volunteers.” The program must be insured against the “volunteers” becoming injured or causing damage or injury to others. They must be transported to work sites since they can’t drive and public transport sucks in the areas where people with an income of $900 per month (on average) can afford to live. You’ve just created a bigger bureaucracy.

No, I’m questioning why the government should supoort me when I’m 65, have cognitive issues to the point I’m not there, can’t wipe my bottom, yet physically expected to live 20 years especially with the right drugs (though I still won’t be mentally with it) . No one should be wasting money on me to extend my so called life. That is really prolonging my death and a form of torture to boot in my case. I’m just a bunch of cells like anyone else. What does it matter to anyone whether I’m dead or alive, really? Maybe if you believe in an afterlife but even then, is it right for me to burden others with my care?

What happens to people who were born with their intellectual disability? Or physical disability? Do those people deserve healthcare?

Follow the money.

Is healthcare really care or something we call care to make us feel better while not caring at all.

No one DESERVES healthcare. Doesn’t matter if you have a disability or not.

Also, unless maybe you’re religious, why should so-called healthcare matter to you at all?
