I think that there is a league with Arlington Forest, Forest Hollow, Parklawn and a few other. They do a lot of meets together.

So for three years running our team has not been able to keep B meet partners. We also only manage to get four when I am now realizing most teams have five B meets. For example from last year to this year, we have kept only one B meet partner. We are still relatively new to summer swim, but is this normal? The other nearby pool seems more consistent with their schedule (we are on a few other waitlists because of vibes at time at our current pool).

If you are not in a B meet league, do you keep your partners? What reasons do you not?

Our club is only doing four B meets this year, in past years. I think we may have only had three on some years, maybe even only two last year due to rainouts. We do one or two "intra-squad" meets. The thing is ours is a very large and competitive club. Many of the nearby teams won't feature kids in the later meets, so it doesn't really make sense to pack up go to go swim in a shallow(slow) pool that no-one is going to improve their personal best at, just to swim against other kids from our team. Many of the better swimmers skip out on the B-meets for this reason, even if they are eligible for some off strokes.

I’m assuming this is either Tuckahoe’s or chesterbrook. Both of whom are known to struggle to keep b meet partners.

We've had a B-Meet with Tuckahoe each of the last three seasons. Haven't finished a single one on account of the 1980s style line brawls.

We are a top division (1-7) team and stopped doing B meets with Tuckahoe because it always stormed when we swam there.

Anonymous wrote:As others have said, if you are consistently losing B meet partners, some introspection is in order. We tend to add/drop a b meet partner every couple years. Some reasons we drop partners,;
1. They don't reserve their parking lot for the visiting team, and give us a crappy team area.
2. They are an extremely large team and their coach is obnoxious and difficult to work with.
3. Not wanting to 'waste' a meet on a yards pool.
4. The reps are difficult to work with.
5. One of our reps has a personal relationship with another pool rep and wants to get them into our rotation.

NP, adding to this list:

-Overly intense about "winning" a B meet
-Large team that insists on letting all their kids as many events as they want
-Officials are obnoxious

Why don't people want to swim at Tuckahoe or Chesterbrook?

We have never had a problem finding B meet teams, I didn't realize this was even an issue.

We swam at Chesterbrook and the parents were incredibly rude. Their kids could be overheard bad mouthing our swimmers (loudly) and the team on the whole (calling our swimmers slow, why are we swimming them, etc).

On top of that, for such a nice food their concessions were terrible - the food was disgusting and we all ended up needing to pick up dinner after the meet.

We haven't swam at Tuckahoe in a few years but loved it there. The meets were fast and their officials were super nice. Can't say we interacted with their coaches at all. Won't swim at chesterbrook for the same reasons as others above.

What's an annual summer swim DCUM thread without dredging up Tuckahoe/CB and B-meets? I was wondering when this was going to happen

Agree with this. We had a B meet at Tuckahoe a few years ago and it was incredibly efficient (the extra lanes in the pool and having multiple chief judges to clear DQs). Plus everyone there was very nice.

No experience with Chesterbrook.

I'm guessing line brawls as in hockey fights. I read this comment as pure sarcasm and agree with the other posters that b meets there were always really welcoming and positive (LOVE the extra lanes). Did they really add a tiki bar?

+1. Their swimmers are rude and they have an infamous starter who seems to relish inducing the youngest kids to false start. He’s been reported to no avail.
