Frankly a lot of men in this age range (I'm a woman), are, even if they have great educations and good jobs, in a financially precariarious position due to ugly divorces, lifestyle creep, or mediocre planning. Oddly I went on a date with a guy like that -practicing attorney, handsome-- who spent most of the date talking about his retirement fears. I didn't tell him I'd checked my retirement accounts that morning and officially reached my FIRE number. I'm still working. I like my career. And I did pick up the tab for dinner. But, he seemed sort of one dimensional. I'm not averse to being the financial adult in a relationship. But, if so I want to be in a relationship with an adult with hobbies that don't consist of complaining about exes (he married her, he should take personal responsibility for that) or worrying about money. Dating is easy, there is always another guy. Finding someone worth spending time with is harder.

Middle aged men get really triggered I turn them down (late 40s F). I think it gives them a comparative screenshot of where they are in a game and why younger women may be interested while older one is not
