My first kid (2024 HS grad) went 5 for 5 -- 1 reach, 3 targets, 1 likely
My second kid (2026 HS grad) went 3 for 4 -- 1 reach, 2 targets, 1 likely |
| Applied to 6band accepted to them all. |
| Would be more helpful if the respondent posted the names of the colleges with GPA and SAT. |
| Applied at 28, accepted at 27 including 7 Ivies. Life is good |
|
Applied to 9. In at 7. One waitlist, one rejection.
Other kid applied to 9. In at 5. Two waitlists. Two rejections. |
| Applied to 1. Accepted. It was a safety. Full pay, no merit. |
Troll. |
| DS applied to 15 and got into 14. One was a Duke WL that became an acceptance late summer. Rejected Princeton. Accepted to top state schools like UT, UNC, UVA, UF, UGA. Attends a T5. |
| These top state schools are where my son is most interested (junior). What were your DS stats and EC? This outcome would be a fever dream for DS. |
| As an OOS applicant, how do you stand out in the sea of applications to tip the table towards accepted for the top state schools? Also have sophomore DD who would love to attend any of these state schools, especially UT Austin. This all seems so daunting at this stage with the OOS acceptance rate in single digits. |
Are you bummed because that 8th Ivy rejected your DC? |
| There are so many factors at play, look at CollegeResults on Reddit or check College Confidential to get a better picture of how many places kids get in. It depends so much on demographics that you can't expect to glean much from an anonymous forum like this one. For example, my kid applied to 16, in at 13, WL at 3. But we live in a very underrepresented state, if we lived in DC/NOVA her results would have been very different. |

Applied to 9, accepted to 7 with lots of merit money, honors college/program offers, waitlisted at one, deferred then rejected by one.
I feel like DS a great list. Attending University of Florida with merit and as part of the honors program. |

| 1 reach, 1 target, 2 safety - total of 4. Got into reach. |
