Which non-immersion charter elementaries are still going strong, anyway? Here are some first grade waitlist numbers for non-immersions.

Inspired - 46 + 4 EA = 50
Two Rivers 4th - 18 + 8 EA = 26
Haynes - 15 + 10 EA = 25
Two Rivers Young - 1 + 6 EA = 7
Lee EE - 2 + 6 EA = 8
Lee BL - 4 + 0 EA = 4
Shining Stars - 2
Breakthrough - 1

Back in 2021 the waitlist was in the 60s and it’s been steadily decreasing since then, but still last year it was in the 20s. To drop to single digits this year is big.

Are there any in-demand charter elementaries left that don't have a MS or MS/HS feeder? I think that really hurts the Montessoris. They have Truth but it's not a legal feeder, and the HS isn't strong yet.

Also, Montessori is for ECE and not upper ES, MS or HS. At some point even the crunchiest parents realize that kids need to learn something and not just feel good about their creativity.

FWIW,
Of this list, only Inspired has a solid middle school.
Two Rivers, Haynes, Creative, Cap City have weak MS.
Lee, SSMA, Breakthrough, Bridges have no MS.

Setting aside the weirdness of picking 1st grade (not a traditional entry year), take a look at the trend lines and the historical WL offers and try again. What you posted tells you nothing. For example, TR 4th has numbers dropping like a lead balloon. Based on prior years' WL offers they are unlikely to be able to even fill the grade.

Looking at Unique Applicants on Waitlists for recent years, seems like PK is down a lot, elementary grades are down a little. 5th is down but 6th is actually up this year. 9th is higher than last year but lower than the year before it. Interesting.

I think the current 5th grade class is very big on the Hill; perhaps elsewhere in the city too? We had the worst WL numbers for everything in that grade, including daycare & sports teams/dance classes filling more quickly.

No, all Equitable Action kids are also on the main waitlist. You’re double counting them here.

Do EA offers also count as main waitlist offers?

Yeah we have always heard the current 5th grade is huge and we have often had very bad luck because of it. The grades that follow do not seem as big.

This data overall is so dire that I'm wondering if this is why the PCSB new charter application instructions and sector planning supplement are so delayed.

It's worse than that though. CMI didn't even fill the 10 seats it offered. Only 7 matches. Cap City and TRY also.

Look for the waitlist to move by May and continuing into the summer for waitlist feeder families.

I predict all feeder families will get in

I would be worried if I were on the waitlist this year. Last year there were a bunch of extra seats from feeders that didn’t fill so overall there were enough seats for the feeder kids. That’s not the case this year. Last year DCB only had 36. This year it’s 58. All feeders have more applications.

+ DCI has 25 kids from Mundo only on their waitlist.
