I hope they all go broke and the county strings it out for years while their kids go to a school full of mold and crappy utilities.

Geez, hope not. My kids are supposed to go there in a few years and we don’t want mold.

Indeed. Why not.

They spent their money on taxes, lots of them, and look where it got them. Might as well put that spend to good use.

Imagine paying money for a decade or more towards a new vehicle, or even fixing up your vehicle, only to have the govt vote 7-1 to give it to someone else and tell you to bum a ride with the person in the next town over, in their new vehicle that you funded. TaxPAYERS in countywide endeavors, just like cities, never get their money's worth. Never.

Team Wootton parents (not my catchment but glad to see them do this)

Your analogy is so far off it betrays a misunderstanding of what government is. You have not been paying into taxes the way you pay a car loan. We pool all of our taxes and give out the benefits evenly. Did you think you would get nicer roads or better trash collection or a shinier DMV if you paid more taxes? No. You actually could choose to rent a tiny studio apartment and you would still have access to roads and trash collection and the DMV, because that is how societies work.

I’m not a part of the Wootton cluster so I’m not speaking w inside knowledge. But I think there is a major issue here at play that can absolutely get the Supreme Court involved, especially the current one. It would be an extension of a previous SCOTUS case (and no not the opt out case)

🤣 O dear, you are out of the loop. If you only knew the avalanche that is about to come.

Is this with the 500 families each giving $2K? If they have so much money, why did they hold a fundraiser at Chik-fil-a?

Because they are planning for the long haul and will take MCPS to court for however long necessary

Way more than 500 families have already donated. Guess the vocal “minority” is much bigger of a group than you think.

Do tell, what's the major issue or is it top secret?

Having a brand new updated building is great. DC goes to RM, and even though it's older, the Main St is fantastic, no crumbling, floors, bathrooms work (when they are open).

Your young kids will appreciate being in a brand new state of the art building.

Some people are strange. They'd rather be in a moldy building just to keep the W name.

Not sure what they are thinking but I wonder if it's the "Asian dispersal" argument that they have been trying to use. Which makes no sense since the Asian % of Wootton is currently 44% and at Crown it will be 39%, meaning that demographic continues to be a plurality at the new school...

Speaking of which, has the PTSA or Rockville elected officials come out and said they support the legal action or is this just some of the Wootton walkers who are doing this on their own?

A couple families in Cabin Branch tried this…they lost. The boundary went into place while the court case progressed. It was a waste of time and money.

But they are keeping the W name. The new facility will literally be called Wootton High School.

The boundary will take effect in august 2027…even if the legal battle is still unsolved. The Seneca Valley boundary decision triggered the same emotional response. They lost, and the boundary took place while they were still disputing…

This is way more than a boundary case. That’s why it’s different than the Clarksburg case that lost, and is much closer to other cases where MCPS failed to follow its own policies and state law.
