| I’m not a lawyer, but on what grounds is this group planning on suing MCPS? And what are they hoping to do? Either way, Crown HS will open in 18 months, and I’m pretty sure MCPS isn’t going to have a brand new HS sit unused. |
Isn’t it illegal to make “rich” kids go to school with Gaithersburg kids? |
And waste a bunch of MCPS funds in the process. Thanks, Wootton! |
I'm guessing you don't know how many cases SCOTUS takes each year (about 60). Even if the plaintiffs find a federal cause of action, it wouldn't involve a legal principle or social issue SCOTUS is looking to touch at all, let alone one significant enough to displace others. But enjoy your deluded thinking over the next few years as the lower court losses pile up. |
Doesn't matter who you are if you don't have a case. A PR problem? Perhaps. But people in MoCo are so easily angered that it looks like Taylor and the Board (except Yang) have stopped worrying about keeping people happy for the sake of keeping their jobs. In some ways that's good. It hasn't been good to have the loudest and richest voices dictating policy. But it also looks like they might stop listening, which wouldn't be good. |
Like Taylor is wasting in court defending the illegal EV bus contract. Why don't you ask him about that if you are so concerned with what Taylor is spending on legal fees? |

Wootton cluster family here. Legal pursuits are being explored by a small faction of very angry people. Please don’t make it seem as if it’s the school or the whole community.
Speaking of which, has the PTSA or Rockville elected officials come out and said they support the legal action or is this just some of the Wootton walkers who are doing this on their own? |
Right, SCOTUS took an interest in the other MCPS case because it touched on religious liberty territory that they love. Somehow I don't think Barret, Kavanaugh, et al will care as deeply about some folks in Rockville not being able to walk to school anymore. |

The students want the move, it's the entitled parents who don't want it.
I hope they all go broke and the county strings it out for years while their kids go to a school full of mold and crappy utilities. |
Yeah...what is their claim? It's too far? I adequate facilities? |
That is exactly what this is all about. |
|
Who is "Wootton" is this context? The parents? The staff? |
Just filing a lawsuit doesn't mean nothing happens. There would have to be some sort of resolution in the plaintiffs' favor, or a Preliminary injunction granted. MD gives great deference to the local school board in these type things. This is probably 20 families, splitting a $1M legal bill. 50 grand a piece. I can think of better things to do w 50K. |
Donate to MCPS, that is, agree to have your taxes raised this year. Come out with signs to support County Executive Marc Elrich's plan to raise taxes. Let's see all his supporters in public, with signs, shouting their support. |

Jesus, enough already.
You got a brand new building. Sorry it’s 2 miles away from the current one. Move on with your life |
