What a stupid comment. Not in an at will state plus how would you know you would be fired and told a vague reason not "its because your dot wasn't green." You are clueless. |
My door is closed and I have on headphones. What then? |
| How did managment do when there was no Teams status? |
Send them an email? Are you that bad at management that you cannot figure out whether your employee is doing their work? What exactly do you want from them? You seem to be obsessing. |
|
I only check my lowest level team member. The one who i know doesn't have in person meetings or impromptu non computer related projects. She should be fully green during work hours. If shes not by 915 I make up a reason to call.
More senior level managers I trust to manage their time and their work product speaks for them. |
| I don't look at dots. Mine is set to always show as offline so people don't try to send me messages on Teams. I manage all communications on email, I don't need another record to track. Very little that my group (accounting) works on is truly urgent, I'm fine if it takes someone a few hours to get back to me. Everything gets done on time. |
| I use a mechanical mouse jiggler. I bill 60+ hours a week and hate that I feel anxiety every time I step away from computer between 9 am and 8 pm. Mouse jiggler + cellphone handy solves it. |
| I have some staff that need to mind their own business so have encouraged team members to turn off their status whenever they want. I know how to reach them and whether they are available because their calendars are up to date and we largely work in office. This isn’t rocket science. |
+1. Managers look at teams dots to monitor are nuts. |
This. Have they not responded in an appropriate amount of time to something? If that happens repeatedly, ok. But otherwise I'd train yourself to ignore the color of the dots. |
What do you think that does? Other than make you look crazy of course. |
This is me too. I work with people across multiple organizations, not just our company, so the Teams isn't integrated anyhow. It's only for the 2-3 coworkers who are part of my org that I work with. So I am set to "offline" all the time. If I need to have a call, I have to set up a meeting invite because otherwise outside people can't be added. |
| I have not thought to look at Dots. So ridiculous. |
I’m an adult and an opinion from a stranger doesn’t matter. It actually deters coworkers that like to stop by for gossip for hours at a time. My supervisor knows how to contact me and my work is complete. I’m also reachable via teams and email. |
| The only time I ever pay attention to this is if someone unexpectedly doesn't show up for a call or meeting or respond to urgent requests when they are supposed to and they are stuck on yellow/appear away. But then it's just a concern for the person's well-being: are they sick? dead? in an accident? |
