Exactly this. The Dems don’t actually stand for anything constructive and concrete. You can’t just say I’m not Trump, that’s not going to work. Hillary tried that and lost. What will you do different from Trump, be specific, no platitudes.

There are plenty of Democrats (not all of them by any means, but many) who have taken an articulate and courageous stand. If you haven't noticed you are not paying attention.

Unfortunately, if the supposed "Dems" on this thread are to be believed (I have my doubts), the truth is that Dems have plenty of policies, but they need to repackage them in new messaging that can reach the absolute morons like the people on this thread. Some of them are talking about Hillary and Harris as though that is relevant, which makes me think they are just trolls.

But either way, the American public has shown itself to be really, really ignorant. Only ignorant rubes would have voted for Trump a second time. Frankly, they had to be pretty stupid to vote for him the first time. Anyone with critical thinking skills has always known he is unfit on every level. Dems have to use emotional and catchy BS to get voters' attention so they can implement the policies that would actually help these stupid morons who always vote against themselves.

As Pod Save America put it, Dems have good policies, but no communications and Republicans have good communications with no policies.

Sitting at the televised State of the Union to support illegal immigrants over American citizens wasn’t a good look.

lol you still think Republicans’ immigration policies will help them avoid disaster this fall?

DP. Not sure. As horrible as the events in MN were, at the end of the day, the border is much more secure and the fire hose of immigration has been shut off. DHS has a new secretary who might not be as inflammatory or tell as many lies as the one he replaced.
What do Dems offer?
They are still the party of illegal immigration and men playing women’s sports. This is going to be hard to shake off. People will start paying attention if things get bad for them as individuals, which isn’t necessarily happening in most of the country.

In what way? And be specific. Because Dem policies are generally pretty popular. And even when they're not, there comes a time when you want them (i.e. FEMA). So, is it messaging? And if so, it is easy to criticize. What do you suggest.

Because, I'll tell you, other than not being a bit more "down and dirty" and messaging, I'm not exasperated by their policies at all. If anything, I'd like them to shift to more progressive.

These are Bullsh-- talking points. The only ones talking aout men playing in womens' sports are repubs and meagerly talented athletes like Riley Gaines (Btw, if you don't know much about her, you should google it. Her evolution from "I don't blame the other athlete" to complete victim is remarkable. And coincides to the large networth she now has as a result of MAGA donors).

Dems are also not a party of "illegal immigrants" but of a more humane immigration party. But you know that.
And what you fail to acknowledge is that decades of presidents - INCLUDED R's- have failed to get a hold of the immigration issue. So, yeah, these are talking points. And nothing substantive.

+1 In all of Harris' speech, she just kept repeating the same lines about how Trump is a crook (we know), and she's a lawyer and believes in law and order. She also said she would continue with Biden's policies, including his immigration policies which the country did not like. And before anyone defends Biden's policy on immigration, remember that he did not take any action until his 3rd year, which by the time was too late (he should've taken serious action on day 1), and that his policy included allowing in some hundreds of thousands of refugees from countries like Venezuela. This is not what most Americans wanted.

Dems have a messaging and reading the room problem.

Their messaging may be bad but this is utter crap. You weren't listening. She absolutely said more than "trump sucks." So did Hillary. But it's easier to blame them then to take accountability for your own ignorance and inability to research the issues.

That's pretty damning for the Rs.

What say you, OP? Maybe the title should read: Dems are less popular than ICE but more popular than Rs.

I think most people would prefer one party in the White House and the other party in control of Congress.

Not any more.

those other things she mentioned were small in comparison to focusing on Trump. Also doesn't help that she said she would not change any of Biden's policies.

BTW, I voted for both HRC and Harris, but Dem messaging does suck.

But that message doesn't come across that way, and when Biden allowed in hundreds of thousands of economic refugees giving them hotel rooms, visa cash cards... that was not a good look.

And then there was the Humanitarian Parole Program (CHNV): Launched in January 2023, this program allowed up to 30,000 migrants per month from Venezuela, Cuba, Haiti, and Nicaragua to enter the U.S. legally, provided they had a sponsor and passed background checks. Over 600K people were allowed in, and this went on until Jan 2025.

Rs hammered this in the media all while Americans were struggling paying for groceries, housing. This is why Americans think Dems care more about "refugees" than Americans, and that Dems are the party of illegal immigrants (though I know refugees are not illegally here).

Dems need to change their stance on refugees and illegal immigrants, and push that message non stop.

This is how I feel too. I still vote dem out of self interest as I am poor and I have dependent immigrant relatives but I can’t imagine why a middle class or up American would want to.
As someone who sponsored an immigrant I can tell you it’s expensive for the country to have so many.

Seems like they keep winning elections ever since Trump went full Nazi, so maybe they don’t.

Haven't Dems flipped something like 27 seats since the last federal election, and Repubs at 0? Huh. That's not really consistent with what's being shoveled here.

Reality seems to be resisting someone's tall tale about it.

Who will Dems run against Rubio? I really hope it’s Harris.
