Recruited athletes for Duke, non-basketball, have 1300 range scores all the time. Basketball and football tend to be the lowest , often below an 1100.
Chicago and Northwestern take football and basketball students with 1170-1250 regularly.

My niece is a soccer player at Duke. The coaches told her she just needed a 1200.

I don't think we know yet? RD decisions won't be out until the end of the month, most likely

Recruited athletes? Depends how good you are, and depends on the sport. A 5 star basketball player, male or female, will receive a significant preference. There are not many of them. A 5 star player in basketball is not going to be caught up in admissions. At all. Same with a sought after football quarterback. Their concerns will revolve around NIL, and agents, and how to prepare for pro career (hardly guaranteed). Admissions is assumed.

A Brennan O'Neill, a once in a decade lacrosse talent, will also qualify a big preference 9no comment on whether he needed it).

My team (I attended on a full ride years ago) today has a GPA of 3.6, the most All ACC athletic/academic members of any team in the conference, and team members while typically receiving a thumb on the scale have to be fairly near the school's average. The VA state champ a few years back had 1500 plus scores. She will headed to medical school soon. In my sport the participants must be very good students. Their best recent recruit - who has unfortunately been severely injured from week one - was ranked second in the nation and while he is a good student an athlete at that level could receive quite a preference. But that level is stratospheric.

This athlete's injury shows just how risky recruiting can be for both parties.
