Fun/stupid things you spend on

I pay for monthly Tivo service. Does anyone remember Tivo? I will go to the grave with that thing....

The most I do is $100 on myself: some months it's stuff from The Real Real, others it's perfume micro bottles to sample several...I think how people spend money is interesting. It seems like so many people here are extremely wealthy so could easily splurge and save with great ease. We're not at that level.

DH and I also stay in nicer hotels when we travel, justifying it to each other by noting we will either not be there again or at least not for a long time. Would much rather spend on nicer hotels than going out to fancy meals, so that also helps the justification.

Funny, we choose very utilitarian hotels so we can splurge on dinners out. Love all kinds of great food and wine.

I like to do both.

I spend so much you would not believe, but I never buy stuff for myself for $100. I just don't buy stuff like that. Then when I have to buy clothes, it's usually a bunch at a time.

Pre-cut fruit and vegetables! May I never cut an onion or watermelon again!

We bought a (few miles from the beach but same zip code) beach house during covid. We live in a historic rowhouse of 1600 sq feet that is in constant need of one repair or another. Bought a super trendy all modern new build on the eastern shore with more than twice the space. It was amazing during the covid years.

Still love it, though I have started to feel like we don't go on any other vacations because of it.

I love thrift store and consignment shopping. I have a wonderful wardrobe at 20% of retail and we are ultra high NW. Then we only fly first class which is the opposite behavior. It balances out!

I have upgraded to first class twice this year. Both were work trips, but i had to pay the upgrade fee myself. It was worth it.

Yes absurd.

I...don't understand this.

This. I buy everything cut up so have everything prepped ahead of time and it makes cooking much less time consuming and annoying. No crying over onions or washing spinach.

I love collecting transformers toys. Also sell quite a few as I upgrade or fall out of love with some figures.

Fun hobby. I have been collecting for over 20 years.

I spend A LOT on plants from the garden center in the spring, and bulbs in the fall. I manage to kill a large amount of them but planting things makes me happy.
