Fun/stupid things you spend on

Everyone on this site is always like,

“Euuuuhhhh, should I buy a $1,000 gold necklace that I’ll take care of and one day melt down or whatever when gold hits its peak? I only put $34,999 in my roth this month, so naughty.”

So let’s share some of the dumb/amazing things you’ve spent money on because you can’t take it with you and I’ve got a fraction of a bitcoin burning a hole in my pocket. And not just because of the lithium battery.

Bring on the boats. The delivery Egg McMuffins. The hotel suite with a dining room you never used. Etc.

A personalized license plate - $15/year or whatever but I smile every time I see it

The penguin encounter experience at the baltimore zoo.

An animal acting class - training my dog to be in commercials or in movies. I don't have the schedule to drive to gigs in NYC or Philly, but it was so fun to train the behaviors and one day I'll have a flexible job.

I got no bitcoins, but I'm finally, at 40 years old, at the YOLO phase of buying concert tickets. So much money to burn in a few hours! I'm going to a show for $150 tonight, and thinking of spending hundreds to take my kids to one in September! But nothing feels as full body spiritual as live music (and I'm a churchgoer).

Lego botanicals. My family always wants more Legos, I'm the one who says space is finite...but I do always wish we could have flowers, so they've got me there.

Snow tubing! Going this weekend!

I own an airplane.

Ok, that sounds worse than it is. I own a partial share in a 1970s 4-seat (including the pilot, that's me) plane with fading paint and 20-year old navigation tech. My share is worth about as much as my car, and I'm a strictly Toyota/Subaru level of car buyer. (If I had a more expensive car, I wouldn't be able to afford the airplane!). It is terrible for the environment (it burns leaded gas!), and not very practical for any real travel, but it sure is fun. We do use it for day trips to the beach in the summer, which is awesome.

Girl, justify away but we all know the maintenance is what gets you and you can’t take those day trips if it’s windy. ❤️

This thread is fantastic already! Airplanes, lego sets, concert tickets--all awesome things. I booked a room at the Waldorf last weekend for DH and I. It was pretty spectacular. We're Hampton Inn people when we travel but for a night without the kids, it was luxurious. I'm getting there slowly, but next time I might order room service.

I sometimes order bagel sandwiches to be delivered from bed.

I actually spent about 2x what I admitted to friends on my child’s birthday party.

I saw Ozzy Osbourne before he died.

Also bought a World Series ticket for the Dodgers-Yankees series.

My best friend and I buy lottery tickets whenever the pot is REALLY high. Not a lot of them, but we have to be in it to win it!

I would probably spend a bunch on my kid's birthday because he wants to invite everyone and I don't want to crush the idea that "everyone is welcome" from his instincts. The birthday party I really want to do is at one of those ropes course places that would cost me about 1500 if my kid invited everyone he wanted to. I'm not doing it because that is ridiculous, but I kinda want to.

Does getting nails done, eybrows and lashes dyed and underarms and bikini waxes count as frivolous spending?

Lol, so true. Which is why it's stupid and frivolous and belongs in this thread, it's not practical at all.
