Crapping on your neighbor's lawn is a 'way of life'.

41 acres of open space is not a lawn.
Still a private property.

OP here.

No. It's 41 acres. We aren't spending 100k to put up a fence to keep out trespassers. I'll shoot their dog first. And no, they do not clean up after their dog.

Get chicken wire fence. It’ll be cheaper particularly given how worked up you are about one dog.

I have a similar situation, new DC weekend transplants who probably like the allure of some land who don’t understand property lines and don’t seem to heed No Trespassing signs. They also let their off leash dog run all over the place and they also follow it onto our land.

We hunt our land. We plan on letting them know the dangers of people and pets trespassing on the land during hunting season, with a reminder for them to put on some blaze orange. Just a friendly warning in case they aren’t familiar with hunting.

The dog will still escape multiple times to your property, unfortunately, because by now it's a habit.

You may have to get a guard dog. This is how rural folk protect their land, OP.

This isn’t what you tell country folk. You tell them that you set out rabbit traps and to be careful with the dog. (Don’t set out traps). Or tell them that people will be hunting on the property and to keep their dog off the property during hunting season which is basically the whole summer

Honestly the dog poop isn’t a problem on 40 acres. The mule is pooping there anyway

I’m sure you’re just being over the top but threatening their dog makes you sound unstable. They 100% should not be letting it roam but it’s an owner issue not reason to kill the dog.

Will you also be killing the deer, fox, rabbits, and every other animal that use the bathroom on your 41 acres?

Maybe a simple conversation with them about the dog would resolve the issue.

I’m from the country and a lot of people let dogs roam and a lot of people will even hunt through your property if their are no signs up

I would drop a load of manure right in your driveway

Do you understand the difference between wild animals and domesticated pets?

Very much so. Also enough to know that this is a problem with the dog’s owner and not something a decent person would kill a dog over. The owners should keep their dog off of OP’s property, without a doubt.

Also, poop is poop. Truly can’t imagine the actual dog poop is more of a problem than the poop of wild animals on a 41 acre piece of property OP uses occasionally.

The owners are definitely wrong but threatening someone’s pet is a sign of being unstable.

Completely false. Domesticated dog poo is full of all sorts of dangerous pathogens, bacteria, and pathogens not found in the feces of wild animals. This is especially true in an agricultural environment.

I'm not going to waste my time explaining how, but educate yourself so you dont look so foolish the next time you make demonstrably false statements.

It’s not dog poo alone that’s a problem. Poop for any omnivore or carnivore is a problem. Fox poop is a problem. Cat poop is a problem. And likely both are a much bigger problem on the 40+ acres than the poop of a single dog.

Why would any of that be relevant to OP? They don't have an agricultural property, they're hardly there enough to have a vegetable garden.

??? OP literally stated that the house next door is a 500 acre working farm!

House next door and they don't seem to be complaining. OP did not say their acres were used for farming and described 41 acres as a "yard." So, not a farm.
