She applied to engineering and the letter said if we were interested in a faster admission decision we could accept a spot in Purdue Indianoplis campus. Anyone else receive this kind of deferred letter? Also what is the indianoplis campus like as An undergraduate?

What are her stats?

1510 (790 math) .weighted 4.5 gpa. Magnet high school. Part time job all four years. Summer internship at a high reputable research institute, 1000 volunteer hours, great essay (or so we thought, maybe it wasn’t so great).2-3 other after school EC, and a sport all four years.

TJ?

But pls don’t go to Indy campus. it’s a commuter campus.

Ur kids stats are very good. Sure will get else where. plus look at Purdue weather - it’s bad right now ! U dodged a bullet

Good luck!

Genuine question: Is Purdue’s weather worse than the DC area’s?

3.98/4.46 GPA
14 IB/AP classes
Top rigor
1450 SAT (790 math)
Decent ECs

FYE

Probably didn’t show enough interest

In at Honors College with almost identical stats.

Mine didn’t apply to honors college and I think that was the issue too-told him it shows solid interest-he said it would be hard enough without honors college!! Live and learn. He will write a LOCI.

Bummer. Would it be tough to transfer over to the main campus after first year?

I read the two are independent. But did your kid show demonstrated interest? I was surprised Purdue cares about demonstrated interest according to their CDS, unlike other public colleges.

Congrats to all accepted!!! Purdue is an amazing school with so much to offer… be warned however that grace is hardly ever granted for things such as missing assignments, classes, exams or projects for any reason other than actual admission to a hospital (even then its a fight)… Son’s roommate failed a class because he missed an exam worth 50% of his grade due to running a fever of 102 and being at urgent care. Also, grade deflation is real and A- usually starts at a 95. Most of the STEM courses are curved but learn to expect median averages around 50-60… Also, grades are hardly ever updated so students honestly have very little true sense of how they are doing until the bitter end.
Not meaning to burst bubble but real expectations are better than surprises.

Unfortunately not really-couldn’t attend when they came to his highschool and didn’t tour.
