My kid deferred
3.98/4.46 GPA 14 IB/AP classes Top rigor 1450 SAT (790 math) Decent ECs FYE Probably didn’t show enough interest |
| Is it hard to get into Purdue? |
| We loved our tour to Purdue previously but they adjusted DS’ major between that tour and application time so he didn’t apply. Congrats to all who got in! |
|
DS accepted Mech E to Indy. He has a mid GPA and 35 ACT so it was a crapshoot. Didn’t show interest besides one zoom session.
It’s not a school he was that interested in, so moving on. |
How did DD answer the Supplemental Question 2? In that, DD would have had to specify which campus and why that campus. On the website, it states that admissions are evaluated separately for each campus. Wonder if DD can request to be considered Regular Decision for the West Lafayette campus? At a local Purdue University (in Fairfax), the AO explained that the degree is from Purdue University, regardless of campus. |
Congrats! Please share stats if you don’t mind. |
4.0uw/4.3w, 1450 SAT, accepted Biology. My kid says Honors College decisions don't come until February. |
|
DD was accepted. She got into the honors college but was not offered merit aid in her acceptance letter.
Does this mean they’re not offering her merit aid? Or could that offer come later? |
thank you for that explanation, i think the mistake came about because Indy had direct admit to EE while the main campus was first year undeclared engineering--but we didnt register main vs indy campus. I guess it is mostly about a different social scene if you go to Indy. |
|
You have to chose which campus you want-if you pick both you can get denied main and into Indy.
|
Merit (and honors decision) comes now-financial aid later. |
Not a Top 5. But a good school. |
Can probably still get in. Which school district are you in? We went to a session and they only accept about 120 students from VA. That was last year's stat |
Yes it’s a solid school for engineering. Arguably the strongest in Indiana and it’s a popular choice for lots of California kids who are shut out of the top 5 UCs, Illinois kids not into UIUC, and similar logic for other states. |
| In aerospace engineering honors. Oos, 3.9/4.4 gpa, 1540 sat. Nothing about merit |
