Not necessarily. When I was at MCPS and my first kid born, I was really into DCUM.

Sometimes I tried to get a gauge if other people were active and tried to throw out a feeler, especially when there were threads specifically referencing things we were directly involved with.

But people mostly just looked at me and didn't respond. I don't know if maybe they didn't want to openly admit it or what.

But that's one of the things that reminds me that the things posted on DCUM isn't necessarily reflective of the larger population.

Also I agree, Weast was a blowhard and when we talked to someone from NC, they mentioned how they were happy how he was or problem now.

MCPS ALWAYS had issues and wasn't as good as it was made out to be. The difference was that Weast always liked to brag about the top performing schools, while kind of letting the weaker performing schools kind of just slide by. And personally I saw it as when he saw it was going to be an issue when he decided to leave. But I do know several people who were very loyal to Weast and thought highly of him and willing to jump through a ring of fire for him. So just my point of view.

As for high ranking administrator, there might be different levels or definitions of high ranking. Since I come from more of a central office background, my definition of high level administrator is someone on the superintendent's leadership team. Which from what I'm gathering, but may be wrong, OP is not.

OP said they're an administrator at a high school.

Oops missed that somehow. lol, are there school staff that really refers to themselves as a high-ranking administrator?

Of course not. But OP is not staff. Just a troll.

Why did they make so many changes to summer school without community input? For years, kids have relied on taking Health over the summer online to take real classes during the school year.

I’ve met them all and they’re all very nice people, specifically Taylor. I disagree with some of their decisions though.

Taylor is a smoozer.

How often do you use the bathroom during school hours? Is there a separate bathroom you can use as a "high ranking" administrator?

OP is Damon.

My kid is graduating this year so I stopped paying attention but what changes to summer school? They aren't offering health during the summer? Ouch.

They come after first period (their easiest class) once or twice a quarter. They are a very very high performer and sometimes I just say, ok, fine by me. Their grades are great and they are well liked by some teachers (maybe not first period, which they find easy and kind of coast through and do the minimum). Do you hate them or me for this?

This is normal, OP. My kids did this as well. No one at school batted an eye. It's actually a good thing for teens to learn what to prioritize in their lives. I don't think anybody at school begrudges a high-performing kid looking to get into a good college for their absences, considering that college admissions is determined in large part by what kids do OUTSIDE of school. Schools are worried about low-performing students who skip school.

No its not normal and I don't allow it. They will not go to their activities if they get behind. Simple.

Recently, my DD's coach sent her a text -- yes, a text -- letting her know if she prioritized homework over practice, "there would be consequences". My DD went to practice and then stayed awake until 2 AM finishing HW. When I found out, I hit the roof.

Damon, former HS principal promoted to central office in 2020 or 2021?

He gave me "used car salesman" vibes the first time I heard him make a presentation about how the HS was "The Best Every High School!" Could never move past that....

Then I’d drop that sport.

Well, true.

But the OP says he/she doesn't have kids and Damon had a kid attending the same HS where Damon was principal 5 years ago.
