Inefficiency and incompetence

Whose incompetence?

Anonymous Admin, you'll have to sign your posts here so we know which responses are yours.

What are your thoughts about discipline? Does your school lock bathrooms? What changes would you suggest?

What are your thoughts on school safety? Do you think it’s a good idea to have a police presence at schools?

Do you think most incoming freshmen have the academic preparation they need for high school? What do you think about the academics at MCPS high schools?

What are your thoughts on the regional magnets?

What do you think needs to be improved in MCPS? What would you like parents to be advocating at school board meeting and considering when voting for board members?

What would you like to say directly to parents?

What ES, MS, and HS would you want to send your own kids to?

They come after first period (their easiest class) once or twice a quarter. They are a very very high performer and sometimes I just say, ok, fine by me. Their grades are great and they are well liked by some teachers (maybe not first period, which they find easy and kind of coast through and do the minimum). Do you hate them or me for this?

This is normal, OP. My kids did this as well. No one at school batted an eye. It's actually a good thing for teens to learn what to prioritize in their lives. I don't think anybody at school begrudges a high-performing kid looking to get into a good college for their absences, considering that college admissions is determined in large part by what kids do OUTSIDE of school. Schools are worried about low-performing students who skip school.

No its not normal and I don't allow it. They will not go to their activities if they get behind. Simple.

No, if they’re doing well we don’t really care

Why will you not address the safety issues in the schools? Are you ok with the financial mismanagement?

I’m personally against it but I’m not high up enough to make a difference

I’m not a parent

Weast came from NC and he destroyed two counties there as well.

I’ve met them all and they’re all very nice people, specifically Taylor. I disagree with some of their decisions though.

I don’t like locking bathrooms, my school doesn’t. Unfortunately I think we need police presence at some schools. At MCPS there are enough classes that almost everyone can be prepared. MCPS should focus on countywide programs. To parents, research your school board ballot, get involved with PTSA, and talk with admin. Also, sorry for not signing replies, you should be able to guess but I’ll start now.

I don’t currently have kids but my partner and I just bought a place and are going to start trying. Thomas Pyle for middle, BCC for high is best in my opinion.
